Life After Invisible Walls:
If you can see a location, you can get to it. In this first set of shots, I'm climbing on the fallen tree branch that hangs high above the tiger-fight area. I didn't have to glitch my way over here - Lara can just climb right up.

I had so much fun playing the demo. I loved everthing about it. And Lara did indeed look fabolous. I loved looking for the Secrets. They were pretty hard. Loved everything. :D:jmp:

Is it just me or does Lara look a bit Asian ? Its the first thing that hit me, her Asian-looking face, when I tried the Demo :p

I noticed that too. Mostly in her eyes, they're very almond shape and they slant up at the corners just a bit.
She looks white with some Asian heritage. :p

I do, but it's really only in the opening scene. As the demo goes on, the shadows get sharper. Weird!

She got tired of glaring at me :p
Lara cycles through a bunch of faces while she's standing around, from angry, to bored, to curious, to just blank (like in the second picture).

Lara looks GREAT! I love her skin tone in the first two pictures. I cannot wait until I buy the game. (I am buying th 360 verson and I dont even have any game console at all :P )

I think the areas that are indirectly lit (the shadowed and indoor areas) look much better than the directly lit (in full sunshine) areas. I'm not sure why.

The colours are a bit out compared to the real thing, but you can clearly see the difference when Lara is wet.

Thanks for that Scia. Hearing that from a fellow TR fan, really boosts the confidence in one.
I just hope that her Animations looks better in the final version. She needs a transition between a move and another, and actually see her perform the action, i.e. reaching for her guns.
EDIT: I'm still disappointed that her checkpoints do not save her health state. No surviving element whatsoever.

Yeah I had to get her to a wall and move the camera on her clothes to finally see the wet shine on her clothes. It probably has to do with the fact that her default clothes are dark enough as it is, so it is not as noticeable when she gets wet. The wet effects have gotten more subtle, at least she isn't bronze this time.

You cannot take the crystal its what the light will shine through when you have all the other crystals in place, you cannot do that in the demo.

Yea she is - I doubt they did this deliberately. I notice it most in her flat nose bridge, eyes, and hair. Not a problem really but it confuses me a bit to see Lara look like this. Still, better to look like this than a cartoon goldfish (TRL)
oh, and there is another possibility....you know...;) ...maybe we'll uncover some secret about Mummy Croft.

good screens. Lara looks more beautiful and real than all the surroundings there. Game can be enjoyed just with only staring at Lara there. She's the center of all attention there

Those invisible walls are on the Shiva statue, not much chance for exploration there, l was looking forward to sliding down there.

None in the actual demo area.
The only place I found any obvious ones would be the invisible blocker around Shiva (Kali is fully explorable though), otherwise you can get pretty much anywhere. CD really opted for high walls and steep slops to keep you in the game world, much like the classics.

Oooh, you know what, you're right about the sea - there are invisible walls down there. Sorry about that :-p
It's a nice size area though, you can swim back behind the main path, and far off to the right there is an underwater cave that you can explore a bit of (but part of it is blocked by a locked door). There is plenty of open water to swim with the sharks in. I think people are just upset that you can't go waaaaay far out and reach the other islands. The swimable space is about what you'd expect.
I'm not sure about the climbing thing though - I've found Lara to jump on everything (though she won't automatically climb onto short platforms - you have to do an angled jump). I've gotten her on tree branches, building archways and awnings, narrow spaces around statues, rounded rocks, on top of narrow stair railings, and even in a few places I'm not entirely sure I want to go back to. I think whoever said this just isn't trying hard enough ;)

Unfortunately my graphics card does not meet minimum requirments, but l still expect it to be good enough for screenshots, all my early Legend next gen ones were taken with just on board graphics l had no graphics card back then.
To get on Shiva's arm do the weight puzzle where you swing on the pole, you will get a cutscene which will slow you down so wait till the arm goes up again then go back and swing again to bring the arm down. Get on top of the pole, when the arm is all the way down jump over to the platform near the metal balance platform and sprint up to the hand and jump on it before it rises. Make sure to move along the arm before it goes all the way up or it will be to steep for Lara to go down and you will be stuck on the hand.

Well most died normally, l had a glitch where one batch died like that, and one where the red one from the blocked off area died right but was floating, but he was near a wall so that could have caused the floating effect.

I'm actually very impressed with the ragdoll in TRU - in most games, grenades and ragdoll means body parts getting stuck in walls. So far, the animals in TRU just go flying and deform very naturally against surfaces (save for our demo-Nagas, who decide to balance themselves on their noses)

Amazing pictures,the game is absolutely beautiful,really.
The only bad thing is that when she perform an acrobatic she does it really,really fast.I hope(and I really do)that this will be fixed.Keir,this can be changed or is the final code?...I still have my hopes up,but better I have an answer...anyway,the game is fantastic.

I tried, I dont think it's possible though :(
its the way to the secret, instead of going round the corner to the beam and then to the rest of the demo you have to sorta jump to the left before going back round the corner

It's not very big, but the secret "chime" goes off, and there is a pick up in there (I'm remember what the item was though)

Great, but the pc demo is almost here. Can't wait to play it myself. By the way how does the graphic look when you're playing it.
About 100 times better than any of our screenshots. You can see every strand of Lara's hair and every crack in Shiva's body on my HDTV.

It's difficult to compare with the Xbox 360 version based on screens, but yeah, the game is really beautiful.

Same here, just that I have an x1650pro instead of 7600GT, 2gb ram and hmmm... I overclocked my 3000+ to 3500+ :jmp: :p
I can't say for sure how it compares to Xbox version, but cetainly Lara looks, feels and moves better than ever before, she is really doing lots of things that you won't find in any other games and also I like that the path is not so obvious like it was in Legend/Anniversary which makes it more exciting

I know she looks better then TRL & TRA in terms of texture & body proportion, but her face doesn't look that different to me. Like Zebra said a bit too cartoony.;)
However, I also said that when in she's in motion that may not be so noticeable.:) For some reason the PC demo doesn't work for me even though it supports shader 3 & as there is no PS3 demo I will not be able to tell until Nov 21st. All the same I'm enjoying looking at peoples pics & knowing a lot will have a chance to finally get a look now, also hearing they're enjoying the demo.:D

Why don't you set the resolution to 800x600 in the game's options when taking screens? That way you won't have to resize them.

I don't resizing them, I just mean having to minimize the game each time to load paint and save... Is there a program that just saves them straight to your desktop sort of thing as soon as you hit a button? :)

You're probably saving them as JPEGs, and Paint's JPEG encoding is awful

There is no such thing as "Pure British" in the United Kingdom anymore, the UK has millions of cultures from around the world.
I am happy that Lara's face reflects this, because it just shows us how multi cultural UK is.

hey you guys. i'm at 81.2% of the TRU PC demo upload, whenever i get a chance to play it i will show you some of my screenshots i took :D
Well l finally got the PC version downloaded and installed, unfortunately its not really playable, but updating the drivers might fix that yet. My PC had severe problems running the game, only to be expected, my PC did not meet the minimum requirements. :(

With great difficulty, but l have experience playing next gen Tomb Raider games that way, could not continue past the Shiva statue though, game just went into slow motion stutters and froze for minutes at a time. It seems to be a problem with my sound driver.

Bare in mind I'm playing on an iMac through Bootcamp. (The results are fantastic btw, I can run the game at 1900x1200 with everything on at a beautiful speed).
Demo looks a little better on my PC versus the Xbox 360 which surprised me. That certainly wasn't the case for TRL, even with the next gen mode on.

Lara's model looks good but CD should definitely go for a more realistic look for tomb raider 9. This cartoony look, although much better than previous games, don't go with the more realistic locations. In lush and colorful places like Thailand it looks better but in dark areas like the Kraken area and Mexico she looks more out of place, she has that glow to her that even though it's a little dark she still looks bright, not much though but still.
Is it really that difficult to save it in JPG Format.

It's not easy. I've done it on the 360 demo, but I'm finding it next to impossible to do it on the PC because the keyboard controls are so awkward. I'll try to find the thread explaining how to do it. :)

Sorry for posting these on external site, but i coudnt find a site where i could upload 16 (or more) screenshots and put them in a gallery with tumbs and not resizing (for the fullhd screenshots ^^). Therefor i posted them on my own website ;)
Still if i compare a few of these screenshots and the first ones in this topic, then i think the pc version has lesser graphicsquality then the 360 :confused:
Even tho im running on a good pc (quadcore, dual vidcard, 4gb ram, vista 64bit)
is lacks somehow of waterquality and photolike textures/quality. allso when i encounter a waterpart, as the first i get like 30-40 fps this way, when im out of sight of water, i get the max fps..

These are made using the iz3d-stereodriver and anaglyph optimized mode. The game isn't perfect in 3d (water totally messed up and sky drawn at wrong depth). Every effect can be turned on without interfering more with the stereodriver. Inspite of that TRU is very enjoyable in true-3D!

I tried the bug on the sliding slopes to get down there - but failed, and landed on the middle level. I messed around there for a while - jumped on the scales and lowered Shiva's right arm, then properly absailed down the wall to the ground floor! Great exploring. :D

Yes! :D I pulled that lever thing down, jumped on it and thought... Hmm. That's odd, I wonder what it's for?
So I grappled it again, and ran around - tried to pull it out of the wall, still nothing. I approached the ledge and 'What could Lara do?' popped to mind.
"Surely not..." I thought, and stepped backwards over the ledge, grinning like a madman as she absailed down to the floor.
