ok, so i can't run the demo, cause it gets stuck in the loading page where there's a short description of the coastal thailand level. when i let it go for a while, the comp restarts itself.

i guess the reason is my computer, but can anyone confirm me this (maybe it's the drivers issue)? i have: intel celeron 2.53 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT.

I have almost the same specs as you do, so it should run on you too

Probably the drivers, ive installed my drivers about 2 weeks ago

do you know where can i download the drivers?

so you can play it with the same specifications?

Hi and welcome. You can download the latest nVidia drivers from www.nvidia.com.

damn, installed the drivers, but it's still the same :(

could my video card be the problem? or processor/RAM?

I don't think its your specs... Also, your processor speed doesn't matter, but if its under the min specs it will lag alot

Did you restart you computer?

Petar
01-11-08, 19:53
yeah i did restart after installing drivers. i'm really wondering what could be the issue if my specs are not. when i press start demo, the description text (of coastal thailand) kinda goes slow and interrupted and the thing that circles also does it with some breaks. so it just keeps on being stuck in that loading screen.

The Nvidia 7300 is a low end graphic card, its not really up to running something as intense as Underworld.

I don't think a 7300 is better than a 6800GT to be honest, just because its a 7 series doesn't mean it outperforms the flag ship 6 series.

I don't think its your specs... Also, your processor speed doesn't matter, but if its under the min specs it will lag alot Thats a pretty ridiculous statement, don't you think?

CPU and GPU are like, one in the same. You think if you have a top of the line graphics card and a six year old CPU it wont make a difference?

CPU is much more important than a GPU, you need a fast processor with a decent FSB to read all that data sent by the GPU.

Yea, I meant more like "You CAN run it on a under-the-min-specs-cpu, so that isn't the problem, but the fps will be extremely low"

Freezing and automatically restarting sounds to me like your system is overheating. Have you tried to reduce its load by using less effects and a lower resolution etc. ?

Petar
02-11-08, 09:32
yes, i've tried that, to no avail... i didn't know that GeForce 7300 sucks that much, guess I'm gonna buy a new graphic card.

1. Run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report.

2. What PSU (power supply unit) do you have?

3. Do you have many programs running simultaneously on your PC?

in the meatime, the demo managed to start somehow, but it's really slow and pretty much unplayable.

i don't have any programs running simultaneously, except for the msn.

Hi, yes i have the exact same problem. It seems that nobody really knows why this is happening. I have a Nvidia 7600 GT, 1.8 Ghz core 2 duo processor with 2GB ram. My computer runs Anniversary perfectly with all settings maxed, yet it can`t even start this demo!? C`mon, it`s not like it`s Crysis! Ive run diagnostics and they say my machine is on the high spec end of things to run this game. This game should certainly run, the fact that it wont (even on 640 x 480) suggests that there`s a more detailed problem. Interestingly, with all the setting maxed, or at their lowest, it looks equally as slow when it loads the Thailand text in super slow-mo. I hope someone can shed some light on this...

If you have XP Profenssionl like I used to the games I tried didn't work it was high spec. I think it was because I had Pro version

Actually mate, TR:U requires more hard drive space, and more RAM to run, the Graphic requirements are not that different either. Although it looks nowhere near as good as Crysis...the min-spec isn't so different.

OS: Microsoft Windows XP (admin rights required)/Microsoft Windows Vista (admin rights required)
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3+GHz or AMD Athlon 2.5+GHz
RAM: 2GB (Windows Vista) system memory
GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce 6 series 6800GT (or better) / ATI 1800XT (or better)
SOUND: Direct X 9.0c compatible sound card and drivers
DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM drive
HARD DRIVE: 8 GB Free Space

CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8GHz;
Graphics: NVIDIA 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0);
RAM: 768MB/1GB;
HDD: 6GB;
Internet: 256k+;
Optical Drive: DVD;
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

I refreshed this almost never-used account just to post what I hope is helpful info to some.

I have an old system, with a brand new (<1 year) GF6800. For comparison, Doom3 runs perfectly well with all whiz-bang effects. And I can run Legend and Anniversary at full without any problems.

But I too, was getting the nv4_disp bluescreens. I tried getting the latest nvidia drivers to no avail. In fact, the drivers screw the system up completely and I have to roll back. One thing, though: I've always held this system at XP SP1. Wondering if that was at the root of the problem, I got SP2 (not SP3) today, and after, re-installed the latest nvidias.

And the demo now runs. :) Performance isn't great (as expected) but Lara looks incredible, right alongside the water and plantlife and shadows and tigers... :)

Hope this helps.

@ Petar: 1. Update your video drivers from www.nvidia.com
2. Shut down your NOD32 and Limewire before running TRU demo.
