So I installed demo today and it works fine, graphic is amazing and everything.. But when I click "demo" it loads very slow (Legend loads like that if I turn on next gen) and the cutscene is slow and all her animations are slow.. She kinda stucks, I don't know how to explain this. I changed texture details to lowest. Resolution is 1680 × 1050. Refresh rate 60. Aspect Ratio 16:10 No antialiasting mode. Texture filtering is trilinear. My graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT.
If you'll need, I will give you more informations.

Thank you! :)

I don't know much about computer specifications i am afraid, but it sounds like maybe you do not have enough RAM to run it.

Lower your resolution to 1024x768 and post Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) report.

8500gt is'nt a next gen gaming card even slower then 6600gt,7300gt, thus it may support lower resolutions also Fps is less.

Try lowering the Details!

That and you may also try turning off the shadows, they use so much resources and they don't even look good in the demo, I hope that will be fixed in the full version.

So, I tried to turn off almost everything and it worked :) I'll try just to disable shadows like Muhammad said before :) Once you see next gen it's really hard to get used to this lower settings:o But it's better than nothing.

Anyway, thanks EscondeR for you help, I hope this diagnose will help you.

And thanks to everybody

Shadows are a pain in all senses, both for devs, CPU´s and GPU´s. It´s the first thing to tweak when there is performance problems.

Bear in mind that demo is ooold code, so expect full version to be better

Your_Envy*, your CPU is kinda weak and only 1Gb of RAM simultaneously give you problems also.

1. Update your video drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_178.24_whql.html).
2. Try disabling Volumetric FX also.

For further help can check TRU Demo FAQ (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tru.html)

P.S.: And please use Edit button not to double post :)

P.P.S.: Can also press CTRL+ALT+DEL and kill those processes before playing TRU:

I'm getting problems with running this game on my laptop. One, it lags alot and the sound cuts out. Right now, i running windows vista home premium and i don't know if that could be the reason, cause i have 4 gbs of ram on this computer and a dual core processor 2.17 ghz. I also have Directx 10 so i'm just wondering if it's the operating system that's causing it to run slow, or is it my laptop.

It might just be your laptop because I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium with 3GB of RAM and 2.30GHz and I've got The Sims 2 plus a ton of expansion packs and it runs smoothly with no problems...but then again, they probably have different system requirements.

could it be that i don't have an updated driver for my video card??? just a thought to throw out there.

Could be--when I tried playing the Sims 2 on my laptop it was a bit choppy. On my new PC (the one I'm using now) I have the best card GeForce could offer and everything runs fine. I think you should upgrade, providing if it isn't too much money. First, try reducing the graphics settings on the game to see if it improves--that way you can save yourself money if it works.

Its most likely your graphics card that is the problem, if you run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report here one of our technical experts should be able to help sort it out.

Oh yuck, you have Intel integrated graphics. That's your problem right there.

so this graphics card isnt able to handle good games like this??? i mean it looks like its good from how much memory it has on it, even though its only giving me 128 mb of dedicated memory. is there a way to increase your memory on your graphic cards, to make it go up to 256 or higher???

Yes, and it's somewhat cheaper than upgrading your whole system. Check out your local Best Buy for more information. I do know some things, but I don't want to give you the wrong information.

It reallly worries me reading this, how each new Tomb raider game requires more and more complicated computer hardware and software to run what is essentially just a game. (did I just say that about Tomb Raider :D)

Ii gave up with TRU and not willing to spend a fortune on a new computer just to play a game, so ended up buying a console version of TRU instead of PC version.

Even more worrying is future games, can we keep up with the technology and the costs of owning a games playing computer ?

I think not :(

^ That my friend is the sole reason i game on a console and use the computer for all other things other than gaming. I don't have the patience or money to swap graphics cards, update drivers, install RAM etc

Well l gave up being a PC gamer for almost 10 years when the PC l played TR1 and 2 on could not play TR3, this PC is old, it probably will not play TR10 at all, but l am still hoping to get it to play TR9. l am not upgrading any further, nor will l be buying another PC for some time.

Seems the tech experts are not going to reply, jaymac8181 l would say you cannot upgrade the graphics on your laptop, but l am no expert. You might be able to change the graphics chip, but this seems pretty advanced for on board graphics even if it only has 128Mb dedicated memory. You want to play the latest games you simply do not buy anything with integrated graphics, but at least if it was a desktop you would most likely still be able to put a graphics card in it. In this case your laptop does not have one, l doubt it has the space or the slot to put one in.

You can update your drivers, turn of any programs not required such as virus scanners and other programs running in the background you do not need that are taking up resources. You have to install the game, you cannot run it from the disc, although you will need the disc in the drive to play the game. Next time if you need help it might be an idea to either start your own thread or use a current one, this one being 5 months old is probably why none of the tech experts checked it, sorry about that.

well i returned my other laptop to walmart where i got it from. i was able to get my money back so i got another laptop. honestly, i was only looking at the ram and hard drive capacity, not even paying attention to the graphic card and graphic chip that are in them. anyways, i got a hp g60-249wm with a nvidia 8 series graphic card and chip in it. 3 gbs of ram with a dual core processor of 2 ghz. i hope that does help out. its almost easier just to get a console and get the game, and also cheaper as well.

l brought an XBox 360 after l had trouble playing Legend, although my PC is a desktop l had the same problem, onboard graphics. It looked fantastic played a fair bit in slow motion, my upgrade attempts proved disastrous due to a faulty PSU that fried my motherboard l now have a different motherboard, PSU and AGP graphics card. Game looks better on the XBox 360 anyway, but l am addicted to taking screenshots and trying to get places the developer never intended so even if it ends up playing TR9 in slow motion l would probably still buy the PC version.
