View Full Version : Problems with Adrenaline dodge
Although I can manage to perform the adrenaline dodge, I can't seem to manage the head shot when I'm fighting the T-Rex. The adrenaline mode seems to disappear before the reticules converge, or sometimes the reticules converge and I shoot but the head shot doesn't seem to register and the T-Rex doesn't slam into the spikes even though he's running towards them. He just goes into the wall and hardly looses any life! It's getting really frustrating so any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I somehow completed the game without being able to pull this off properly lol!
I've always had trouble but i find the shotgun makes life very hard with adrenaline dodge, use pistols as much as you can for this battle.
well you dont have to preform the head shot to kill the t-rex, his health goes down slowly as you shoot.
are you holding down target lock when you preform the dodge??

Just to let you know
when the beast attacks with rage you have to hold down the dodge button...thats the crouch button, and when you see a red target on the head just shoot once.
It takes forever to kill the bosses without the headshot and in some cases its not possible

You will enjoy the later levels much more if you can master it now!!! Though it is the most annoying thing ever.

No, is this something I'm supposed to do? I'm not even sure what key the target lock is on the PC. lol.
Red_Flores, I'll try that as I think I've just been shooting like a maniac and that might be why it's not working!
Thanks, everyone for your advice. I don't remember having this much trouble when I completed the T-Rex the first time...

Yep, target lock, make sure you have plenty of room, when it starts to go blurry run to whichever side you are going to dive. When the beast charges, press the button and it should take you to the adrenaline dodge.
LOL - I was going to ask about this for the 360, I can do it on PS2 no problem, but 360? Forget it... so...
How do you do the adrenaline dodge on the 360 people? Do I have to let go of the targeting button before I shoot, or am I maybe pressing the wrong button? Maybe I'm just timing it wrong? Help would be appreciated! :)

I figured it out... my timing was off, lol. :D
it says what button it is in the manual and when you play the first level. make sure you hold it down
i hope the makers of Tomb Raiders dont put this awful AD in TRU....

they could keep it as an optional thing and make it easier to perform correctly. but making it compulsory and then having the move fail to execute for no clear reason is not good.
shooting causes it to increase its rage meter - lol! most animals die when shot. i know tr badguys do take extra bullets to die but at least they dont just get angry, haha

Check out the video below. It breaks down the actions and tells/shows you haw to do this. Seriously, I couldn't figure it out until I stumbled onthis. Hopefully it helps! :wve:

^That's really helpful, thanks!
Thanks to everyone for the advice, I finally managed to complete it! lol. I wasn't holding down target lock so that's what I was doing wrong. I'm still not fond of this AD so I agree with what Candygirl said, hope it's not in TRU.

In TRU there is supposed to be something more along the lines of an "Adreniline moment". The action slows down and you have to direct Lara to do the right thing. As for the "headshot" (like the AD in TRA) it's an optional thing that I haven't managed to do in the demo yet. :D

I had the same problem too so I can give you some advices:
you can't do it if you don't have the pistols in yours hands
when you want to do it, you have to change the kombat mode from manual to advanced toggle..... and then it very simple... use crouch/roll button and a direction button when you are directly attacked..... before you shoot wait few seconds till lara mark as target you opponent and then just shoot.....
this have to be enough.... and if you want to be easier in the boss fights change the crouch/roll button and put it on the R mouse, this hepls you because is simplier to use mouse and there you have theshoot button too....
hope this will help you.......
One very important thing about the adrenaline dodge (which the in-game tutorial fails to demonstrate) is to hold the lock-on button when you try to perform the jump.
If you don't then Lara will just crawl in the same place.
