View Full Version : Ending wtf? **Spoilers**
So I have finished the game, and the ending doesn't make any sense to me, she says: Goodbye mother rest in peace. And she walks away. Where does Amanda go? And is she back in time to where she was a child because of those draw pictures of monsters...
I dont really get it.

I don't think she's back in time, she just found old pictures from WHEN she was a child.
And amanda probably went, afterall, who wants to spend the rest of their life in a temple?.

Those days in Helheim sent Lara to Nepal. She didn't go back in time, she just came back to our world.
I have a question about the ending too.
Excalibur was in Helheim, uhm, okay. BUT - didnt Lara walked away with it at the end of Legend? Yes she did! So whats it doing in Helheim?

It'll most likely get explained in the Dee Ell Cee.

It pretty muc signifies closure. Which is good for us, since most of us were tired of the mommy storyline anyways, so now it's over. :D
Amanda is just.... WOW!!!!! :jmp:
I want to see much more of her in the next games. ;)

There are several of them (Helheim sword is the one from the beginning of TRL).
If the artifacts in her burnt Manor are still intact, then she's a proud owner of two badass swords.

Different sword. There's more than one.
Hm, yeah, I didn't get that Excalibur thing either. Are there two of them?

I think she had striking similarities with Michael Jackson. :pi:
I was ok with the ending, but why didn't they explain the doppelganger? And I wish we had gotten more information on Natla and Amanda. I really loved Amanda in this game though, and I hated Natla. She looked so much better in Anniversary. (That doesn't actually matter but...)

There's more than just one sword and one dais, its just as Natla said. It's all apart of a travel network. After seeing it, I can honestly say it was very poorly done and the fact that it just leaves you a sitting duck bothers me big time without lack of explanation, especially as to how Amanda plans on escaping that same temple in Nepal that was falling apart in Legend.
Odds are, they probably ended it like that for a reason with the DLC or whatever.

My guess is you have to buy the DLC.;)
Another reason that makes it obvious it was content that was cut out from the main game.

It was just explained in the above posts.
There are a few things that don't make sense to me, but here are two big ones...
The dais in Nepal was broken. That includes the circular piece that rises up. Yet, at the end of TRU it is intact and works fine.
Amelia is a thrall. You become a Thrall by being exposed to eitr. So, Lara just knocks her back into the eitr. Her bones haven't been crushed or anything, so isn't Amelia still down there as a thrall? Even if there's no shred of her mother's mind left, the thought of your mother's undead body roaming around for eternity like that... ew.
But, maybe I'm just overthinking things.

Are you sure? Only the "sword reciever" had crumbled after Amelia's teleportation, afaik.

They wouldnt continue the story in the DLC, the story stays on all consoles. :p
And I think they cut back on telling us about Natla and Amanda's stories because some people complained about all the drama that was in anniversary and legend regarding the story. :p Crystal have listened to the fans so much, imo its butchered their story :p shooting mother? epic, but why she a thrall? :o /end rant :p
I think she had striking similarities with Michael Jackson. :pi:
Agreed.
Well it inst really important where amanda goes... But teh ending really left me with this feeling of... dissapointment... :( meh.. I dont think I had that feeling even with legend... but the gameplay was really fun

:vlol: You made me laugh
The end is weird. Will Natla still alive? Amanda is alive and has her pet. There are plenty of questions not answered.

Legend's ending reaaaaally disappointed me, I thought it was terrible, so this was a lot better.
I don't understand howso many people were underwhelmed, I was actually very pleased with the ending. I don't like long, drawn out endings. Like TR1, it was simple, yet to the point. Very impactful for me when she made her closing comments to her mother, because it gives closure to the whole thing, and best of all, NO MORE MOMMY AND DADDY STORYLINES! Woo! :yah: :yah: :yah:
Edit: I will admit something I didn't like though, and that was Lara's 100+ feet pass of the hammer on Natla. That was ridiculously cheesy, I wish she'd have just hit her with it or something, because making a pass like that so perfectly accurate made me laugh, it just took the whole epic and serious tone out of the whole thing. Seriously, Lara could blow any NFL quarterback out of the water with that kind of accuracy. It's hard enough to throw a football, which was designed for that, so perfectly, let alone a huge hammer! I nderstand that Lara gets strength from the gloves, but I didn't know perfect aim came with them. :vlol:

"Thor" Queen-seeking Hammer.
Always hits the spot.

AND NO MORE ALISTER!!!!!! :jmp:
Not the whole temple crushed down in legend only the floor so those monks thaught you weren't able to escape when you don't have anywere to stand on still modern techologics like graple can and of course don't forget amanda has her powers to escape ;)
probably the doppelganger was made to make lara look evil towards zip/allistair and winston because she's like a twin. Lara says Natla made one before in atlantis to (we know that one as bacon lara) but lara killed the beta doppelganger wich was all flesh and bone. the new one is like a copy of lara and was made for natla herself ore for Amanda to kill zip, allistair, winston and of course lara! natla didn't want lara to find the artifact beneeth the manor

YAAAAY!!!! :yah:
Now they just need to kill Zip off. :D
Seriously, I was sooo into the game, and then felt a blnk disappointment when I saw Zip and Alister in her mansion, before they went into the basement. It takes a lot of Lara's independance away. Lara should be a loner. I love the seclusion of her living in her huge mansion all by herself with no one else except the butler. Having two annoying guys haging around ruins an excellent part of Lara's personality for me.
And even though Z and A were not talking on the headset anymore, I still despised seeing them on Lara's laptop as well. She doesn't need to talk to anyone, she should do her exploring 100% on her own!
YAAAAY!!!! :yah:

We are almost there... rather 1/5th there... all left is the other leg, arms and the head :D

ROFL!!! :vlol:
They should shoot his mouth first though. :p
I really would have loved to see Lara kill Zip when he was trying to kill her. That would have been amazing. :D

I have a question about the ending too.

I was confuzzled about that too!

Yep. Watch the "Previously..." video or replay Legend. You can see the circular piece broken on the floor after Amelia goes through the portal.
The fact the stones turn red instead of green can be explained by the fact Lara and Amanda are going from Helheim -> Nepal (maybe it's red going one way and green going the other?) but the thing was totally busted.
I also find it a little hard to believe lil' Lara could activate the thing by accident, but Amelia couldn't work it to get back (because Lara comments she "must have tried to use it to get back", so she must have understood what it was).

Apparently, there's more than one Excalibur sword.

There is more than one sword. The one that appears at the end of the game is the same sword Amelia pulled out in Nepal, Excalibur is a different one.
the sword she made in ledgend was a fusion of all cultures..there must have been plenty of swords :)
The way i see it, you touch the sword once, you activate the dais. You touch (pull out?) it the second time, you'll get sucked into the portal with the sword.
In TRL Amelia got sucked because she touched the sword after Young Lara activated the dais. The Grown-up Lara didn't because she didn't touch the sword the second time and resulting in her side of the sword still with her.
In TRU, it is clear that Amelia at least managed to insert her sword into the dais. But she didn't activate the dais. According to Lara she might not know how to. Plus having to hold the stone and touching the sword at same time takes two person to do it as what Lara and Amanda had shown, so i guess Amelia was screwed at this point.
So at the end Lara picked up the second copy of the sword that started it's journey from Nepal,to Helheim and back to Nepal. She's now a proud owner of two powerful magical swords. She can finally ditch those two pea shooter pistols of hers.. :D
One question still remaining. Who the hell put the sword in Nepal in TRL and how did they get it? Hmmm..

Maybe Nepal had it's own King Arthur/Queen Tiwanaku. And the dead mercenary at the beginning of Legend found his/her sword and tried to activate the dias but he couldn't. I don't know, just guessing lol

Right, it's not that Amelia didnt know how it worked, she just couldnt get it to work without another person. Sad...
