Hi guys, I have a problem with my monitor.

I've installed my new graphic card, a NVIDIA 9800GT, and my monitor is all blurry. Can somebody help me?

maybe you have high screen resolution and too high refresh frequency for your monitor? just an idea.

Are you sure the motherboard doesn't support the video card? Because I had no alimentation issues. There's nothing saying that the motherboard doesn't support my video card. It's only blurry, and only visible when you get in front of the screen.

Plus, my resolution is 1440x900, and the refresh rate is 60hz, and I can't get over this.

EDIT: I've checked on my graphic card box, and my motherboard is compatible with it (I've deduced it with the minimum specs demanded).

My motherboard is an MSI P4N SLI. I have two PCI Express 16x slot, and they ask for one. My power supply, is a 430W, and they ask for a power supply of 400W. My CPU is a 3.2 GHZ, Intel Pentium 4.

I'm not trying to say it's not true, but it's written that my Motherboard is supposed to be compatible with it, so that doesn't make any sense.

:(

:whi:

Wow. Calm down.

It works with my 7600GT, but doesn't with my 9800GT. I've noticed that when I play a video though, the blurry effect disappears. That's odd.

Sorry, what is defragment all drives
It's delet all files on my drive?

And you've studied for 12 years in computers?

I don't believe you.

Hi ! :)

A possibility here is you're using a flat screen (LCD) and your graphic card is not on the native resolution off the screen. For example, if it's a screen with native resolution 1680x1050, if your Windows desk is set to 1440x900, it will be blurry like you describe. LCD screen are often blurry if your not exactly on the native screen resolution. When you play a game, the resolution change, and having a video game behind you it's totally different than having your Windows small icons, etc. I often fix this kind of simple issue when visiting friends or family ! ;)

And with your "old" card your Windows desk is probably at the good resolution. You'll find the "native" resolution (and check also refresh rate) on your screen manual...

Just an idea ! ;)

And if I lost my monitor's manual? :whi:

Answering "live" ;)

Easy: Give your screen information and we/you will find that on the net.

Or: try ! if it's a 4/3 screen, begin with 1024x768 and increase each time.

If it's a 16/10 screen (Cinema) begin with 1280x800 and increase. You don't have tons of resolution choice on the video properties panel. And if when you try the screen goes totally freaky (no image or strnage colors for example) just don't touch anything and the confirmation box will deseaper after around 15 seconds and it will restore last good resolution. Is it clear ? :)

On your Moniter Menu does it have a Focus option becuase it could have reset itself when the new graphics card was installed.

Give me 15 minutes, I have to do something first, I'll be coming back in 15. :D

Thanks guys, you're wonderful.

It didn't work.

I do have an "auto" function, but not a Focus option. ???

The auto function doesn't change a thing...

Can you guys see how blurry it is?

^^ It looks Like someone made your screen resolution a JPEG
Maybe have a look In the Menu it could be there.

What's funny is that the game runs perfectly fine, everything is at max, no blur, I just don't know why the desktop is all blurry.

It didn't work as well.

Do you guys think I should try to install the new firmware/driver for my screen?

amiro1989, do the following:

1. Install the latest video drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_180.48_whql.html).

2. Ensure you have native monitor drivers installed from supplementary CD.

3. Not the resolution is so important, but the aspect ratio. It must be native. Therefore for standard display it must be 4:3, for widescreen - 16:9 (16:10). Check also the refresh rate: for CRT display set 100Hz, for LCD - 75Hz.

4. Make sure the brightness is set to 10% maximum for LCD display.

5. Then press Auto button on the monitor.
