View Full Version : My doppel storyline for TR9

The time is 3 years after Underworld. It has been awhile since she has obtained the relief of knowing that Natla is dead and all that occured 3 years ago. The game shows Lara in a happy mood roaming around Europe in various sites that allow her to reminise of the days in Paris and Venice. She has a love interest as well although she is reluctant to call him her boyfriend. Lara's new home is on the coast of Italy right next to the Mediteranean she loves so much. There is a cutscene of what appears to be Lara in a marketplace... but her eye glimmers white. Lara goes to an operahouse with her male friend when suddenly the police storm in to arrest her. They are hostile and using force (a cutscene with the crowd running away as shots are fired). Lara runs out with her male friend and jumps on an Italian vespa. She rides through the marketplace shooting at police cars that chase her while her friend is scared out of his mind. When she arrives at her Italian home she tells Winston what occured (Zip left after Alister died its back to good ol Winston). He turns on the tv and Lara's face is plastered all over the news with various acts of crime like arson and terrorism. Her friend at this point is freaking out as Lara tries to find an explanation. She thinks to her past as usual... and suddenly says "Oh bloody hell...no" she thinks its the doppel. But Doppel has mutated and has the capability to change various forms throughout the game. She was caught by a terrorist organization that has done scientific experimentations on her so that they can use her to create chaos anywhere because she has no real identity. With her shapeshifting capabilites Doppel can terrorize areas without ever compromising her true appearance. Lara goes on a quest to take back her identity and destroy the doppelhoe that has tarnished her reputation. She must travel around the globe of course to keep up with the Doppel. Throughout the game players will be able to make decisions as to who to trust as doppel can be any of the various people Lara encounters. Ultimately the doppel is after one thing... deception and terrorism against the race she was made in the image of. Lara must be sneaky and covert when in public at times as the police can see her anywhere. Locations would include Paris France, Naples Italy, St. Petersburg Russia, New York City, Iraq (former Mesopotamia where the gardens of babylon once were), and lastly parts of Egypt such as Port Said. What Lara doesn't know is that the terrorist organization that is using Doppel is actually using her just like Doppel. In chasing after Doppel Lara is getting closer to being captured by this organization which is after a force hidden beneath the sands of the Middle East that can lay waste to entire nations. The organization knows that the only Tomb Raider that can lead them to what they want is Lara Croft. Ahaha this is just my little fantasy game. It would be cool to discuss storylines or locations for TR9.

I would love to see a love interest for Lara... I mean she's so lonely all the time. But it would be funny for her to be like "He's not my boyfriend" even though they are close to dating she wouldn't want to admit it being that she's so independant.
No more dopplehoe, I have seen enough of her. I am also getting annoyed with my avatar.

ahaha if you're talking about Larson then I think he's more of a possible rapist than a boyfriend... She's eventually gonna have to have kids to continue the series. She's gona be the mom she never had throughout her life. If she were to have a boy then the game franchise would really turn into something completely different...
i like it but i dont like the idea of the boyfriend!

I see what you mean about the cliche part... I tried to leave out an end of the world type plot so I said that the terrorist organization is after a force to waste not the world but only the nations they wish to destroy. I would love to see a game that is more modern and with modern issues instead of the cartoony feel I've been getting from the series lately. I say CD should make a TR that is less fantasy and cartoony and more real!! Thats what i call NEXT-GEN lol

I like the story! Although Mr Boyfriend is a no-no. I like that it's an organisation behind it and not just one money making maniac

Oh come on the boyfriend is only at the beginning cutscene he never shows up again! It's only to show how Lara is settling to a normal life and being happy and contrast it with the chaos that later ensues. The boyfriend isnt even a boyfriend its someone she met and goes on a date with but doesnt consider it a date or consider him a boyfriend because she refuses to admit she has a love interest. What is Lara ASEXUAL? Women need some men in their lives...
There aint really many opportunities to raid some Tombs. After all isn't that what the games about hence the name?

Huh? :confused: I never said Lara has to have kids... I said it would be nice for her to have some guy she can flirt with or sumthin in the game... idk a partner that she flirts with and then he dies or sumthin
Edit: I was joking in earlier posts when I said she needs to have kids... I just mean 20 years from now I doubt it will still be Lara with no aging going around raiding tombs.

Love the idea of Lara being framed by the Doppelhoe.
But I was left with the impression that the 2 of them were too alike. In my opinion if the doppel doesn't somehow die, she and lara will work together.

No she doesn't. Lara doesn't age, she's a video-game character, she doesn't need to age.

Not all women need men in their lives, and Lara is a perfect example of that. Lara is an independant woman, and for all we know she could be pansexual. And Lara doesn't need to, and probably doesn't want to, have a normal, happy, skipping-in-meadows life. She's Lara Croft: world renowned adventurer and Archaeologist who has uncovered countless sites and even proven the existence of Gods, mythological creatures and dinosaurs for Christ's sake, and that's what she loves doing. IMO Lara would never want to settle down to a life like that, the whole reason she got into the adventuring scene was to get away from her privileged, comfortable and cosy life.
It's an interesting idea, but I really wouldn't like to see this in the new game.

Well ok then if Lara doesnt age she can just be a barbie doll for the next God knows how many years.... being that practically everyone on these forums *****es about how lame the crystal games have been I doubt that the series can just keep on being the same crap and have you guys entertained. I only said the whole love interest thing as something DIFFERENT. And my dear you dont need to give me a definition of Lara Croft I've been playing the games since the first demo came out ;). The point of showing her getting settled is to make it seem like she gave up tomb raiding but them it came back to find her. Its different for God's sake! I think the series needs to take some risks not just be a barbie doll Lara that runs around finding a new artifact each game. How long will the series last with that?
And as for her not needing any men ever. Heres a list of video game and movie characters that had love interest even if they were for a short time like a fling....

Batman...
I could find more but just because she is a game character doesn't mean it's "wrong" to ever introduce a man she may kind of fall for or have a fling with. Even in the films they show men she has had a history with.. idk if they dated or just had a quickie the point is they haven't done that in the games yet.
