Personally, I think Underworld's Lara was still unlike the one we'd grown to love in the early games. Crystal are on the right track, but the Lara in early games kept her cool, whilst this one made too many outbursts ("You KILLED Alister!" --- "YOU CAN DIEEE TOOOOOO!" --- "YAHHHHHH!") I say bring back the Lara that could be appear sympathetic and polite on the surface, then when she loses her patience, become witty, sarcastic, dismissive and threatening . . . but without screaming! :p

^^^ That 1st one didn't show any of her personality. It was just her asking questions.
The "You can die too!" part actually felt really good! That's when I really liked her attitude. She doesn't need to be exactly like TR3. Her character needs to evolve.

I couldn't agree more. Lara is too-desperate-for-a-shrink now with Crystal in charge. That's why I like the doppelhoe so much! she doesn't even talk... She is just being cool :p

I'd like a mix of both :D the cool as cucumber approach from the classics, with her strikes of rage from TRU! (I loved them, it made you feel that if Lara gets angry, LARA GETS ANGRY :jmp:)

I like the little outbursts. Especially when she lashes out at natla.

I agree that Lara should have her personality tweaked a bit.

Ah, good old cold hearted Lara. Be still my soul. I agree that the calm, collected Lara should make a return. Though not entirely --

I liked those bits in Underworld where she applies anger to her speech. Especially when she tells the Doppelho that she can die. I also enjoy those moments, that look on her face, where she's about to deliver a killing blow to Natla and later to Amanda for being insensitive about Amelia.

TRU went in the right direction. Just make her a little cooler and sexier, and less vulnerable.

I think some parts in TRU felt spontaneous and voyeuristic in that you were just watching lara think and be human. It felt real and I'd like to see more of that. It wasn't so showey. But sometimes, the writing was just tooo cheezy. I'd like them to hire some reallly realllly good hollywood writers. It's obvious that that's the direction CD is trying to go, so I'm not going to fight it. Just do it right!

very true:)

Anyway I think they should focus on the bada$$ side of lara.
It kinda fits her more...

EDIT: Dollar signs? WHAT

To be honest i'm quite fond of the outbursts and feel it like a natural progression of the character. I feel that the 'WHERE IS MY MOTHER?!' outburst in Legend was the only place where Lara felt like Lara as opposed the pansy Lara Cd had created. I agree with most though and would like a mix of the TRU Lara and the classic Lara.

I like TRs 1-5 and Underworld Lara, since she seems to be consistentley the same person in those games. In AOD i thought i was looking at a 12 year old drama queen having a tantrum and in Legend she so sociable, even having a hands free with her at all times so she could talk to her bessy mates while adveturing.

Ew, I hate it when ancient threads of mine are resurrected - particularly when my opinion on the matter has changed somewhat. I quite like her outbursts now. Still, I wish she'd stop talking to herself. :p

Who wouldn't? :mad::mad:

Lara's personality in Underworld was terrible. It was best in Legend and Anni.;) I liked her in the classics as well, but I would've preferred more dialogue.

CD's Lara is on the rag everytime we see her, it seems.

She's got crazy mood swings, and I'm sick of hearing her scream, it completely takes the coolness away from her character. Core's Lara had attitude, but the important thing is that she had a cool head. She could be meaner than a snake when she wanted to, but never yelled or lost her cool. She knew what she was doing, and she knew how to handle a situation. Sometimes she did some flat out dumb things from the adrenaline of the moment (TR3 quadbike jump at area 51 that rendered her unconscious), but regardless of whether what she was doing was on the verge of stupid, she still kept a cool countenance and knew exactly what she wanted.

I miss that Lara.

As said before I would prefer the lara we had in underworld.

But my opinion probably counts for nothing as I have only played anni and underworld...

Me too actually now I think about it, it was nice to see the character of Lara develop over the recent trilogy but its time we got the real Lara back now.

The only part of TRU that I REALLY LOVED was when she FLIPPED S*** on Natla and was all like YOU CAN DIE TOO!! AAAHH Rawr! :jmp:

I like Lara in TRU. It was more natural. Her responses didn't seem so rehearsed. She seemed cool and collected in the most dangerous situations, showing her calm attitude and suave in the face of death, and it showed her ****ed the hell off. She kicked butt in that game. I would like her to be more darkly hurmored and witty like she was in the classics but I think they're headed in the right direction. I didn't like her personality in TRA. Too mousy for someone in that line of work. She wasn't shy or pathetic, just not as emotionally tough as she normally is. Basically I like all her incarnations accept in TRA. At the core of em you can always tell its Lara.

Whilst i agree that perhaps some of the writing in Underworld was a tad on the "cheesy" side, i have to say her personality shift was definitely in the right direction.

Whilst i loved the innocence of anniversary Lara, it still doesn't suit the Lara that we all know and love from the earlier TRs, just a younger more inexperienced one (which i suppose was the point.) With that in mind where does Legend Lara fit in? :p

Anyhoo, I think Lara probably does need to chill out a bit in future, but her attitude and sophistication appear to be back for the most part. :)

TRU Lara is great...I dont want a bad Lara who doesnt talk and just goes around kill, kill, kill, kill, oh Alistair is dead, whatever... Ill never understand why people want Lara to have no emotions, maybe in some weird way they want Lara to reflect what they think is "cool", and an emotionless trainwrack isnt cool :ohn:

I don't want her to be emotionless just not to have too many of them going for her all at once. The thing which made Lara a strong character was the fact that you never really saw her emotions at all, and the thing that made her cool was the fact that she always thought of what she was going to say before she says it (and makes whatever her response is whitty and funny)

I think that CD's Lara is too impulsive at times and has completely no control over her emotions which is completely unrealistic in my eyes for someone who has been training to deal with tough situations all her life. There are other ways of expressing anger other then screaming your face off.

Lara should be more like the classic Lara coz in Crystal Dynamics she is much more emotional. I dont like that.. Classic Lara has more attitude ;)

Wow.. these vids make me realise how bad the acting is in this game. At least TRU lara is more realistic and Keeley Hawes can act. ;)

I will say that Lara in TRU was the best for me. There are some parts that are a bit cheesy. But you must also consider the story - what should Lara spit at Alister when he was shot and tell him **** of and live him in the burning manor.
I don't think she should be this emotionless psychopathic killer with no emotions.
