I think most of us agree that TRU secret system was very...crappy. The only worthy thing to look for was Relics. But they all look the same!

I think we need the TRA system back. HIDDEN secrets that look different, Same with the relics. And please..please, hidden Medis and Ammo! Not everything has to be realistic!

Yes I totally agree with you too, although I'm not too sure about the ammo thing :p

Exactly, there doesn't have to be something-hundred secrets in the game, with about 20 of them well hidden.

And I absolutely loved the relics in TRA. Finding secrets in TR had never felt so meaningful to me, although I've always been a secret junkie. :cln:

Finding secrets in the first 5 games was fun, but Anniversary was perfect. Finding actual trinkets with archeaoligical value that you could later examine in Croft Manor was a very cool feature.

Seriously, I derived so much joy from picking up ammo in the classics. It reminds you that you have another weapon to use, and actually encourages you to step outside just using just your unlimited pistols. Also, those special moments when I found a new and more powerful gun hidden within a level, were better than discovering an artifact. I don't care about realism anymore when it starts coming in the way of my fun. Let Lara discover her arsenal throughout the course of the game again. Reward the player for exploration. The more ammo I find, the more ammo I have. I don't think there should be a "realistic" limit to how much ammo a gun can hold. as long as I find it, I want to keep it. But that's just me.

All in for tra style secrets and relics. It was fun collecting them in tra. In tru there's so many so i don't really bother getting any. I love tru otherwise.

No. I liked Legend's secret system way better! With the gold, silver and bronze secrets :D.

With the so many secrets in TRU it is easy to miss some. I am happy they included so many of them. :)

^ The bit in bold. In Underworld your reward for finding relics is increased health, and that's fine, but in Anniversary the variety in relics, and then being able to view them all back at the Manor, was sort of a reward as well.

So maybe they could combine and expand on that in the next game. There could be a number of relics - lets say three- per level, each different (no more of those characterless gold orbs, please!):

- one Health Relic (increases Lara's health)
-one Ammo Relic (more ammo for all current weapons)
- one New Weapon Relic (speaks for itself)

They should all be tricky to find, with the New Weapon Relic hardest of all. And you should be able to view them again back at the Manor, as in Anniversary. Then on top of that you'd have more generic 'treasures', that eventually unlock a cutscene gallery, character bios, etc, at the end of the game, or better still a time trial mode.

In Underworld, I hunted down all the relics and treasures because that's what I always do in a Tomb Raider game, but real incentive for doing so would be a great idea.

I agree. The secret system in Anniversary was really enjoyable :tmb:

This may sound dumb, but I think there's a sort of psychological difference if you have varied artifacts like in TRA. In TRA they were interesting to look at, so I wanted to find them, but in TRU they were all the same, so I got sick of seeing them.

Doesn't sound dumb at all. Part of the pleasure in TRA was discovering what the next relic would look like - they each had a little story, too, wich again is sort of reward for the effort you put into tracking 'em down.

^ I really liked the educational value in finding relics in Anniversary. It really brought you into the game because that's essentially what Lara does. She finds relics to learn more about ancient cultures. Plus, seeing them all in the mansion after you collected them was rewarding in itself.

or even better,.. TRA wii version style,.. where lara not only needs to find the spot, but we also get rewards with cool moves and technics on how to get them out of the wall, or out of the ground.

I want 3 secrets in each level. Bronze, silver and gold, or maybe Token, Treasure, Relic.

Yes. In terms of the actual look of the relics and artifacts TRA was definately the best system of all the TR games, I really loved the relics particularly, with the info and all.

But, they also need to make secrets... SECRET. An artifact in plain sight isn't exactly a secret. I think as in the old games, secrets should be much more difficult to see for the naked eye. I wouldn't mind the 3 secret system returning and each of them being much harder to find/get to.

Oh and the jars with orange goo in TRU look pretty stupid. And kicking similar vases around the floor gets old really fast and just becomes annoying. Where's the variety?

Overall, TRU is seriously lacking in interesting pickups...
