View Full Version : Does anyone else think...
That CD should make up their own artifacts and complicated level designs, instead of basing it around popular mythology, I mean, the classics were original (obviously) but i mean CD cant seem to think of their own artifacts, they have to use "long lost" artifacts, does anyone else think they should design their own?
Yes. That would give the writers much more creative freedom in coming up with their own myths, locations, and artifacts.

:cln:Yes , that would be awesome !:tmb: It is bound to happen because they will run out of (interesting) known myths :whi: .
Yes and No. Yes, because it will be good to see how creative and imaginative CD could be and no because it is always an advantage to learn history and mythology (something instructive at least) through a video game :)
It adds more realism and it immerses the player more into the game if they exploit a real myth and/or artifacts. But I'd also like to see what the creative minds at CD can come up with. :)

sure. But that would be very hard to do, I don't think there's ever been a TR game with its own civilization and artifacts. Well, there was Tinnos in TR3, but that was just one level.

I don't mean location wise, just with the artifacts :).
and i think all of the ones in the CORE games were original, cept the philosopher's stone, which could've been stolen from the harry potter series.

well, the philosopher's stone was not invented by Rowling, it's been around for a while.

No, it would take away from the real history in the games. Whenever I'm studying actual ancient cultures, it's always fun to come across something I've heard of before from the games. Tomb Raider has also opened my eyes to a lot of real life legends and myths that I had never even heard of before. So I hope that CD continues drawing inspiration from real world myths, although I think they can dig a bit deeper than they did with Underworld. There was still so much unused material from the Mayan calendar that they only briefly touched upon. I'd like to see more history in the games if anything.

I'm a bit half and half about this one. Because CD attempted their Norse mythology storyline for TRU and I'm sorry but it was confusing and quite frankly unrealistic. As if the Norse were spread out to Mexico and stuff there's no historical significance of that... But I wouldn't mind a new made up legend. I mean the holy grail is well known but there's no proof of it so why not make something up. But they need to pull it off! Not just mix and match history into a weird story with loopholes..
Mmmm no,I love when a popular artifact appears on the serie. They can put a unknow too,but I really don't care too much :)

watever's cool with me. Personally, I like using known myths. It makes it all seem all the more possible, ya know? But if they make up their own artifacts they'll be granted creative flexibility. So watever they decide i'm cool with
I dont mind either way as long as the artefact is interesting. I really liked how they exaggerated real artefacts in legend and underworld but i also liked the made-up artefacts in the classics.
I kind of like the real artefacts but have them have a lesser role in the game (like in TRA).
how about some religious artefacts?? like opening the gates to heaven, like lara traveling to Rome, Middle East and Israel to find some artefacts like:
The Muslim Crescent.
The Quraan
The Cross
The Bible
The Star(Judaisim sorry i dont know what its called.
And A Holy Book Jews have (Please if any one knoes the names please tell em i dont mean to ofeend you!)
Maps to each location.
So how about it? Lara Uncovering Temples beneath Notre Dam, The Mosque in Saudi Arabia and a place to worship in Israel. But these are just options What i really want Lara to go ahead and find is Babylon she would travel to Iraq or Iran! Or maybe even El-Dorado!! Thats never been done before!! She could travel to Spain and Mexico Or Peru Or Brazil.
The series needs something fresh, instead of the stale rehashing they keep doing. A new storyline, new myths, new locations, new advisories...

Maybe, so long as it sounds plausible. TR is set in the real world, so the artifacts can't be too "out there". One of the great things about using existing mythology is you start with lots to work with.
