I'm kind of at a standstill here, because I don't know what game to by next for the PS2. So I thought I would turn to the good members of this forum and ask if you could suggest a PS2 game (or two or three) for me. To help you out, I'll list the games that I have, and what I like and dislike about them:
1) Dead to Rights: good balance of shooting/combat, which I haven't really experienced in a game before; on the other hand, the character's lack of variation in movement (walk or run was pretty much it) was annoying;
2) GUN: a great fun western with cool gameplay and the first "sandbox" type game I've played, good control over your character; nothing really bad to say about it (I've played it so many times), except that it's too short;
3) Hitman: Silent Assassin, Contracts and Blood Money: great series with a variety of ways to complete each mission; again, nothing really bad to say about them;
4) Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction: another "sandbox" type game with vehicles and helicopters (so much fun flying around in them); on the other hand, a ridiculous numbers of enemies (at times) and the game became repetitive;
5) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time: fun game and the first game I played without any shooting in it; however, it also became a bit repetitive;
6) Red Dead Revolver: another cool western with great atmosphere; however, very linear and very difficult, even on the easiest level;
7) Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Legend: what can I say? the first games I played involving "puzzle-solving" and climbing - what a blast;
8) Sniper Elite: probably some of the coolest gameplay; however, very difficult, even on the easiest level;
9) SOCOM: I, II and III: the first games I bought, which impressed me with the way you required a strategy to complete each mission - "running and gunning" won't get you very far; on the other hand, really poor AI.
If anyone is familiar with these games, maybe they could also recommend another one for me. I think it is evident from my list that I like third-person shooters, but I'll let you know (if that helps) that I like a game where you can alternative between third-person and first-person (e.g. Hitman and Socom) or some variation thereof (e.g. GUN and Red Dead Revolver). I also like games where you have a lot of control over your character's movements (e.g. prone, crouch, walk, run, sprint, etc.)
One game I was stoked to play was God of War, but, after buying and returning three copies, Tombreaper here informed me that my PS2 version can't play dual-layered discs. So, as much as I would love to play God of War, that is not an option.
And, once I get a PS3, I know what I will buy: Assassin's Creed, Uncharted and Tomb Raider: Underworld to start with (maybe Kane & Lynch, but I've heard mixed reviews about it). So, until then, any ideas?
Oh, and I wouldn't mind trying something scary.
