One of my friends went to the doctors recently, because he had a brose on his arm that kept geting bigger. Well, it turned out it wasn't a brose after all his arm was Infected. So, the doctors gave him some antibotics, and sent him home...
A few hours later, he said that the antibotics were making him feel worse and that he was coming down with a fever. I told him to go back to the doctors, and hadn't heard back from him for awhile now....

Typically, due to all the concrete and steel used in most modern hospitals, cell phones have very poor to no reception. In some hospitals, reception is neutralized intentionally to prevent any interference with medical equipment. I'm sure your friend is fine.
