View Full Version : Lara's Continuous Flipping Moves, This Time Round There's Five
In Legend, Lara could preform virtually never ending freeform tumbles,
in Anniversary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7Mz4h3G0Pg) it was restricted to 4 specific button combinations
& this time round In Underworld (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWOo35-F9VE) we have one more (a grand total of 5)! :D

Pretty nice, but they are way too fast.
I still like them, but I would have preferred them being a little slower.
^That bullet-time video is the only way I can really see what Lara actually does during those tumbles.

I liked using flipping and tumbling as a mode of transportation :p Feels like a cheesy over-pumped action flick that way.

Jeez, chilax bud! :D Those tumbles and falls are the same category as swan dive and hand stand. "Secret" moves that you find yourselves and have FUN with. Nothing more. :)

Exactly, just something where you can choose how cocky your Croft is
in all honesty, lara is supposed to be a superb gymnast and very athletic too, so why wouldn't she be able to do all those tumbles and such, i for one love them!
There's also a cartwheel (rather than a roll) after the first two tumbling moves. The speed doesn't bother me at all. Lara's speed when tumbling reflects that of most world-class gymnasts.

I think I remember that it's also possible to change direction during the acrobatics which results in slightly different acrobatics. But I'm not sure about that.
Anyway. I like those random acrobatics. They add to the game imho.

But I agree with the people that are saying she does it too fast, Imo it looked alot smoother in Legend/Anniversary.

the only flip I liked was on the balance beams, its nice, smooth, realistic and alot slower compared to her other flips.
I do like the moves - only they're far too fast. I also like continually cartwheeling across a balance beam instead of balance-walking across.

actually these things are my favourite thing in last three games,but its best in legend,that you can continue the jumoping as much as you can,altough its ot very possible but still:)

oh I LOVE that move!! When I first encountered it in Thailand, I was like :yik::yik: WHAT DID YOU JUST DO LARA?!
although I think that that's the only gymnastics that's too fast, the others I'm okay with :)

Ok! :D I'll get onto making a TRA & TRL one.
But what should I do for TRL? TRA will be easy enough as there are only 4 complete tumbles to do, but TRL is virtually inifinite & compound! :eek:

I like the legend flipping moves.. :) I don't like TRA or TRU because they come to an end.

They should really use Lara's movements for certain platforms Lara can't reach with just a normal jump, and not to make it useless. :jmp:

Lol it doesn't look as fluent because it's hand animated in TRA (where as in TRU it's lovely motion capture!) and yes you're right - it would help to speed it up, but blah :p too late now.

Nopey they restricted the TRA ones.
If I remember Anniversary had:
1) Roll and Flip Jump
2) Continuous rolls ending in Various Jump Flips
3) Continuous rolls ending in Piruets
4) Continuous Rolls, cart wheel, handsprings ending in air roll
5) Continuous rolls, cart wheel, (tapping shift again (crawl)) and ending in air acrobatic
6) Jump Flip and quickly press back and shift to handspring back and do the ending roll in mid air. :p
You forgot about the first one and the last one i your TRA video.
If I remember Anniversary had:

Loved the video and I'm a big fan of the acrobatics. Lara is a gymnast and if you as a player want to show off, you should be able to. I remember thinking it made Lara feel less like a tank when it was first implemented in TRL.

i don't use them too, it's just too fast. i liked them better in TRL cause it's not locked for 4 (TRA) or 5 (TRU) combos

Lovely vids.
I adore the new moves in TRU. They would sometimes just appear like treats because I had no idea what I'd done to trigger them. :D The most important thing for Lara is to look cool when I play, not just in cut scenes.
The animations are fast, but true to life, I think, at least for the difficulty of the moves. FTR, it's roll, handspring, cartwheel, then the last move for most of the runs. I don't know the names of all the last moves except arial, (the front walkover with no hands.)

I love all of them. They're sooo cool! :D and are even cooler to watch in slow motion ;). My favourite is the roll, roll, jump, jump. I always do that one :)

Well, in TRL and TRA we used to do acrobatics just to move faster. Now that the sprint has been included, some people don't use acrobatics anymore.
I still do cause it's fun :D

why people want the continuos and unlimited flips is beyond me. In real life, no person would be able to do all that without severely hurting themselves. Thats why they done motion capture, to make it look real. and I'm pretty sure that Heidi Moneymaker would not be able to continuously flip like Lara did in TR:L... any real person wouldn't for that matter.

I'd pretty agree with you except IMHO these «secret useless moves» do not take up as much space as the useless & pointless huge (HD) textures, moving skies, enhanced graphics engine features, aso... At least you can still have fun trying to figure out those secret moves since you can't enjoy replaying the game that much, right? ;)

i think in anniversary are more than just 4 combos. maybe 5 or 6 when you push the dialogstick back
I really like to have my Lara on esteroids, really... being fast makes her look like she's more alert. I know that if Core had the chance, they would have made a Speedy Gonzáles Lara too.

the anniversary ones were the best as lara had some nice fluid animations that looks really stylish and cool:)
