View Full Version : Thralls Are Ruining Underworld

I got Underworld last week and was able to complete it without any problems. But, when I started a new game and made it to the room with thor in mexico when the thralls show up the screen goes black and the game stops working. I have to turn off my PS3, then turn it on again. I tried three more times and encountered the same thing, in the same place.
I should also mention that I can go to this room in treasure hunt mode without any problem.
Can someone please help? I can't finish the game anymore!!

Corrupted save game? Dunno, maybe your gonna have to start a new game :wve:

I deleted all of my savegames but it still happens.

Perhaps you could go to the store and ask them for another copy. You try it again (I know it can be annoying, but I can´t think of another solution) and see if the problem persists. I was told that there´re patches in the way, but I don´t know if they´ll be available soon.

It would seem so. The bug is weird enough. The other possibility is that you´ve actually done something in these last playthroughs (or avoided doing something) that you didn´t in your first one...but that´s way too much to even consider it.

Could the mysterious panther have a connection?
Beyond the tunnel across from the ball court their is a panther that shows up. It didn't appear on my first playthrough. But now it's there.

It might just be that its turned up in a different location.

It happen to me, only once here are some of the reasons why it might do that.
1. PS3 Overheated
2. A connected wire is loose
3. Try going to resume game after reloading it
4. Check the controller is connected
I did all of the above and it worked second time.

It you have you PS3 and TV near a raditior move it away if you do not wish to encounter this problem again.

The only thrall that ruined it was mummy thrall :p. But seriously. The story is what ruins it (and the lack of the ability to replay levels). Not the thralls.

Panther has always been there, he is just a bit slow to appear, you probably missed him the first time. Most likely it is your PS3 over heating that is causing the problem.

That happened to me to so many times at the end of Mexico and Valhalla!!! One time, the screen went black and I had to turn it off from the back, and then it was like "The consoles data system is corrupt, please press the..." I was realllllly scared of the thralls after this.

Same happened to me in PC version, I had to lower the quality settings and it worked. Is there such an option in PS3?
I encounter the same problem. My PS3 blacks out but in Helheim, fighting the thralls. I have to reboot it using the switch too.
It's an original element of gameplay.
Hope a patch will fix it...

Thralls....tough enemy, especially the Yeti thralls. Kind of cheesy how you have to put an end to them.
Can't help you with your problem, but I hope you get it figured out.

Seems like it's a bug with the game and not with the system, as I have a 360 (not a ps3) and experienced the same thing while trying to destroy the diagonal platforms. The screen just went totally black.
I could still hear the sound, and when I hit the start/pause button I could still see the menu but the game would not show at all. Basically what I did was move around (analog stick) and keep hitting the fire and jump buttons, in an attempt to kill Lara (even though I couldn't see a thing) so the checkpoint would reload and hopefully fix the problem (it was the only thing I could think to do).
This didn't work, but eventually the game popped back into view and I had 5-6 thralls attacking me at once, along with Natla. Somehow amazingly I fought my way out of that, but seeing that everyone experienced the same thing..it leads me to believe its something about that level that is coded improperly. I hope Crystal Dynamics releases a patch in the future to fix it.

you know when you stomp the thralls.. do they die permanantly or do they come back after a while? they are really freakin me out, just poppin' out at ya... :yik:

this happened to me as well in that room. Im currently playing TRU for the second time.
After the cutscene when I entered the room, the thrall appeared. I was able to give it one shot before the screen got black. even the sound was gone. I checked my ps3, the cable, even my television programs. I noticed that my tv was on 720p resolution instead of 1080p. I thougt it was odd since my ps3 resulution was on 1080p:confused:
when I restarted the system everything was fine. the resolution was 1080p both on tv and ps3. the game worked fine to. never encountered it again.
PS: on my next playthrough I will check those 4 things you suggested TR Cheatfinder:D
