There both very good as they both have there own flaws. But Xbox comes out on top.
I'm being neutral here. I have an Xbox. The PS3 comes out on top regarding most things. Except for the controller. :p
I will get a PS3 too when I haz teh muniez. :p
I smell a future flame-war...

PC :D
nah my pc is terrible so i'm not one to talk, although it does have the best graphics if you have a decent one.
Depends on your tastes, i prefer ps3, it has more for me on offer.
^^
I dunno, people are generally quite good around here.
id say the XBOX360 is the best however ps3 is also good, i just feel that you can do more on an xbox 360 then you can on a ps3 :)
This will just turn into a fanboy war.
It's all about personal preference. There is no better console.
Xbox 360 is better because it's cheaper; it does everything the PS3 does for $400 less.
TombRaider 95

Not everything, and the xbox 360 was not cheap when it came out.

I'm getting reeeaaal tired of that question!
Both have their flaws and pros.

It's the 360, and that's a fact. ;)
Not everything, and the xbox 360 was not cheap when it came out.
It was still about $400 cheaper than the PS3. They tried selling the PS3 for $1000, while the Xbox360 costed $600. Now both prices have dropped, but the gap is still around $300-400.

You're a fanboy, and that's a fact. There is no "better" system. I personally prefer the PS3 but that doesn't automatically mean it's better.

Personal choice. And my choice is 360 :)
I had a PS2 back in the day, so I ain't an xbox fanboy, I find the 360 has FAR better games to offer ;)
TombRaider 95

I have Ps3 so I'm no fanboy :)
ive had both and in my oppinion its the xbox 360, but it all depends on the gamer, and what they are using it for

*sighs* Your fact is wrong. There is no such thing as a 'better' console. It's people's opinions.

Why would it need blu ray?
Didnt say you need it, although you can watch blu-ray films, i was simply stating that theres more on the ps3, not that it needs it :p
High defenition poop, good quality, tbh i dont find it necessary on my ps3.

I'm inclined to agree. A grand total of 1 game has ever attempted to play around with the massive space.

the xbox internet isnt free your right, but that factor wouldnt be considered if you weren't planning on playing online, and therefore it is solely based on gamers oppinion and what they want
i mean who needs bluray if they dont have a hd-tv
its purely based on oppinion

I like the Xbox360 too, but we still have to pay for live, it doesn't support Blu-ray, and the PS3 has a better build quality.

Should have made that clearer, slow minded people such as myslef can make assumptions
The PS3 is better and here are the reasons why (I have based this comparison between the premuim system and 60GB PS3). With the Xbox 360 if you want to use their online services wirelessly you'll need there wireless adapter which costs around £60, then on top of that you have to pay a subscription fee for around £39.99 for 12 months. The Xbox 360 interface is littered with menu's in a bizzarre fashion that makes it hard to navigate. If you compare this list of features with those available to the PS3 you get the wider picture. The PS3 has free online services and wireless technology is already included in the console. The menu is easy to navigate and each sub menu, is clearly marked by a graphic and title. PS3 will feature a 3D online service called Home, where you can have your own 3D avatar that is graphically superior to the 360 avatar and in this online service you can have your own space in the form of an apartment. You can meet other PS3 users in community areas that is represented in a huge future like town. Not only that the PS3 comes with a blu-ray player, blu-ray is the next generation of DVD's and so your set for the future with this device included. On top of these amazing features, the PS3 offers a freeview service (PlayTV) for a small additional cost that allows you to watch, pause, record live television. The programs you've recorded goes straight to your PS3 hard drive and you can even watch these programs on your PSP if your PSP is connected to an internet service. The PS3 is also whisper quite compared to the Xbox 360 and the power pack is far less bulky. The PS3 comes with USB ports and card readers, the Xbox 360 only comes with usb slots. There are many more features that I could brag about but I think I will leave it alone. Graphics and other performance comparisons between the 360 and the PS3 have been done serveral times with no real winner. Before I finish, the PS3 does have the cell processor and this a piece of technology that is exclusive to Sony, the power of this technology is under-used by developers but once developers have figured out how to utilise the power of this beast, I think it will be the final blow to Microsoft.
Well written and structured! :tmb:, the PS3 IZA BEAST!

Downsides though.
90% of third party developers thinks the PS3 is frustrating to develop games for, so in most cases, the 360 is the base platform, making the PS3 version, often inferior. Valve for example, refuses to work with the PS3.
While you have to pay for Xbox live, it is without a shadow of doubt the best online service between the consoles.
I don't really know about home, but from what I hear from the Beta players, it's really boring. And I must admit that I see no reason why Home would be so awesome. It's like an MMORPG without the character leveling, questing and whatever. (Could be me being pessimistic since I don't own a PS3 myself though, so that is a bit biased)
I don't see any problems with the 360's menus. I have no idea how the PS3 is, but the 360 was a tad confusing the first minutes, and after that I understood it all.
Yes, the PS3 has bluray, but only one game I know (MGS4) has used this feature, and I am not interested in a DVD player when buying a console. It's a bunos though.
Some of their exclusive titles (Like FF and either future MGS games or MGS) gets ported to the 360, leaving the PS3 with few exclusives compared to the 360.
EDIT:
About Graphics; All the comparisons I've seen on Gamespot and Gametrailers, the 360 has the best graphics.
But then again, according to lensoftruth.com the PS3 version of TR:U is better looking then the 360.
But these differences are not really importand, so until one of the consoles has anything clearly superior to the other, this shouldn't even be brought up.
And you haven't had any customers annoyed that you're trying to push them into buying a certain thing?

I'm not a salesman, but when I get the change, I push people towards the PS3.
Why? Just a feeling, and I had the same feeling back then in '95, and also in 2000, with the previous Sony consoles.
I give them the information and let them make their own decisions. That would be all well and good if you were giving unbiased information. If I worked in a game shop I'd give an unbiased run-down of the pros and cons of each console, despite me being a 360 player. Neutrality is a wonderful thing.

Well said, and the PS3 menu is a little plain and boring compared to the 360's. I own both consoles, and the online is best for 360, and most 3rd party games turn out better on the 360. First party games are the only reason I play the PS3 and trust me there aren't many. I'm kind of ****ed I shelled out money for a console that was ment for MGS and FF for me, but is losing them to the 360. Hell ever TR is going 360. Only reason I keep the PS3 around is to play my old PS games and for their first party games. And the blu-ray is really no big deal. It's sad to see Nausinous is proud of turning people away from buying the 360.

What is better about the 360 live then the ps3 network? I honestly don't see any difference and my friends have 360s and I have fiddled around with them.
Is there something that I missed that makes the 360 live so superior?
Nausinous that is a very good statement
and as for the topic it is all about personal choice there is no winner.

I don't know why it's better, but from what I've been playing on it, it never lags, I never disconect (except when my connection sucks) and it finds matches within a minute (when I play halo 8 vs. 8 match).
Perhaps I was just unlucky when I tried the PSN? Well, here's some 'professionals' (really don't know what they are) discussing their opinions on the different networks.

Before I finish, the PS3 does have the cell processor and this a piece of technology that is exclusive to Sony, the power of this technology is under-used by developers but once developers have figured out how to utilise the power of this beast, I think it will be the final blow to Microsoft.
I'd have walked out of the shop laughing my head off if you'd given me that speech. Your comments are, for the most part, completely subjective.
Firstly, for the record, I own neither console.
Secondly, what makes a console good is its games and the support from its maker.
What is you best console PS3 or Xbox 360?
Try looking here. (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=25) There seem to have been about a thousand debates on said subject. :wve:
PSN disconnects me sometimes too, but the xbox servers is not perfect either, I'm getting disconnected for no reason...
Edit: Maybe its my connection...
Well said, and the PS3 menu is a little plain and boring compared to the 360's.
If you mean the NXE its boring with just grey.
If you mean the old one, i agree with you.

:tmb:
As far as current-gen consoles go. I think that would be the 360. :p
Ok ill put my counteracting arguments in bold next to each one
The PS3 is better and here are the reasons why (I have based this comparison between the premuim system and 60GB PS3). With the Xbox 360 if you want to use their online services wirelessly you'll need there wireless adapter which costs around £60 there is the option of a ethernet cable, and even with this added charge its still cheaper than the ps3 , then on top of that you have to pay a subscription fee for around £39.99 for 12 months.as mentioned before we pay for the better service, oh and even with this its still cheaper than the ps3 The Xbox 360 interface is littered with menu's in a bizzarre fashion that makes it hard to navigate. If you compare this list of features with those available to the PS3 you get the wider picture.that is primarily based on oppinion and the person you talk to, some people find different things easier than others, the only way to test this was to get a hundred+ people who have no use of video game consoles and get them to do tasks and feedback The PS3 has free online services and wireless technology is already included in the console. but the online service isn't as good, and it shows in the price tag The menu is easy to navigate and each sub menu, is clearly marked by a graphic and title.purely oppinion PS3 will feature a 3D online service called Home, where you can have your own 3D avatar that is graphically superior to the 360 avatar and in this online service you can have your own space in the form of an apartment. You can meet other PS3 users in community areas that is represented in a huge future like town.this feature is also based on oppinion, some people may find it a chore and uterly useless, especially if you are not planning on online gaming in which case the wireless capabilities and the charge for live do not come into the argument Not only that the PS3 comes with a blu-ray player, blu-ray is the next generation of DVD's and so your set for the future with this device included. blu-ray is yet to completley catch on, also thsi was a key selling point at launch but now blu-ray is getting cheaper. Aswell as this the current generation of consoles are coming to an end as people have allready discussing the next gen and in a few years time there may well be a new format, not to mention the fact blu-ray is slow and to speed some games up developers have had to copy chunks of data to elsewhere in the game, making the extra capacity pointless top of these amazing features, the PS3 offers a freeview service (PlayTV) for a small additional cost that allows you to watch, pause, record live television. so how much extra is that? The programs you've recorded goes straight to your PS3 hard drive basically a hard drive filler and you can even watch these programs on your PSP if your PSP is connected to an internet service. The PS3 is also whisper quite compared to the Xbox 360 and the power pack is far less bulky. ill give you that one, but it doesnt really come into the argument The PS3 comes with USB ports and card readers, the Xbox 360 only comes with usb slots. but with the ability to become a windows media extender for your compute meaning you can instantly watch videos and pics from your computer There are many more features that I could brag about but I think I will leave it alone. like what? Graphics and other performance comparisons between the 360 and the PS3 have been done serveral times with no real winner. i agree Before I finish, the PS3 does have the cell processor and this a piece of technology that is exclusive to Sony, the power of this technology is under-used by developers but once developers have figured out how to utilise the power of this beast, I think it will be the final blow to Microsoft. yet most developers when creating games make them on the 360 due to the ease meaning the cell may never be used, also due to the life span of the consoles it will most probably be pointless up untill the end of this generation in whcih case we will all have to buy a new one
Therefore there is no better console and it is purely down to the gamer, what they want from the console, how much they are willing to spend and there own opinion
Secondly, what makes a console good is its games and the support from its maker.

get the PS360 :ton:
Both suck. :)
I have the PS3, but I'm using it as an media center instead of an gaming console. I play all my movies, music and even browse the internet from it. But as for gaming? Meh.. Only have couple of games. It's hardly an gaming console anymore. Just an very powerful media center. Which I do like.. but.. wish we could see some proper games on it finally. Hopefull versus XIII will be, as the rumors say, the first game to fully use the hardware.
360 is great for online gaming and has an wider collection of games available. And loads of developers are simply jumping to 360.
I work at Gamestation and I've been turning customers away from the Xbox 360 and getting them to buy the PS3 instead with that speech :D
Thank you :jmp: Well, Compare the 60GB (Which is honestly the best edition, compability and all.) with the Elite. The Elite is more reliable than the Premium. It doesn't freeze near as much as before, it has a bigger harddrive and um, that's about it. :vlol:
The main part is the better hardware in the Elite.
Lets see...hmm.. maybe yes.:vlol:
:tmb:
Just a matter of taste, I much prefer a more simple sophisticated slick interface, Japanese design is good at this. I also think that the 360 as taken some inspiration from the up & coming HOME. Like I said just a matter of personal taste.
I've never had any problems with PSN. I rarely get disconnected when playing SCIV and Warhawk and the whole experience is very simple and fluid.
What a surprise, I've never had a problem on the PSN at all either!:tmb: Beside, connection problems can be more connected to your own internet service.;)
As for which one is best, the same answer I always give. If one is on a tight budget then maybe the 360 is better. Also look at the games that are available & also up & coming titles. If one is a big movie fan then Blu-ray is a big plus, films look stunning on Blu-ray! The PS3 is the cheapest best Blu-ray player on the market & also has regular updates.;) It all depends on ones needs & budget.:)
I originally wanted to get a ps3, but too many bugs and faults I encountered playing one forced me to go the other way and go 360.
If 360 fails to please as well then Ill give ps3 another go.

The odd glitch, some games got scratched by the ps3 laser, this is on a friends one. Lots have told me they had to take theirs back.
Im sure not all of them are faulty but a majority have major issues. Pretty much like most 360s do.

This is ultra rare.

Your entitled to your opinion but i hope you know that its well known and accepted (even by 360 owners) that the 360 has a much higher failure rate than the PS3.
From personal experience (and my friends) i've never encountered a single problem. The general internet consensus tells the same...I don't say that its impossible to happen but its like blaming the ferrari brand for one single faulty model.;)

For sure I totally agree, Im basing my view on experience, I am sure there are ps3 consoles that work perfectly, and Im being as careful as I can with my 360 due to the amounts of faults I hear about them too.
Id like mine to last at least a year or two but Im not holding my breath.
Reason I said most do well shouldve said some not most, is people I know have told me they had faults with theirs.

Why do I plan to get a PS3 rather than a 360? I'll tell you...
- Brand loyalty.
- Access to PSN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Network) is free.
Ignore those who talk about the number of titles and exclusivity.
- The Xbox 360 game library is larger because it's been around for longer.
- There's no such thing as exclusivity these days.
How many "exclusive" titles are available on a rival platform six months later?
Just buy a PS3; you know it makes sense.
Personal preference doesn't come into it.

so the only point you have made, and the only reason people should buy a ps3 is because the psn is free
but. what if you dont want to game online
and what if money is an issue?
thereffore its purely based on the gamer
like you said loyalty, if you werent loyal and were new to the console franchise your view may be different
Brand loyalty really shouldnt matter, if you have to change brands to enjoy your gaming experience then so be it.
My opinion though. I started on sega, then went to nintendo, sony and microsoft now. I got no brand loyalty :p

I actually had to take my first PS3 back because for some odd reason it was really loud and started shaking when it was reading disks.
But I haven't had any issues with the new one. :) Still prefer my 360. :p
360s aren't as unreliable as they used to be. I've had mine since September 2006 and I've only had to send it back once - in September 2007. In the last year a lot of my friends have purchased 360s and only one of them has had to send his back, and even then it was only once.

Since october this year the xbox has been fitted with a new chip which they like to call jasper
These new jasper consoles are supposed to have eradicated the rrod
Like I said in the other thousand threads about this. I prefer the 360 but there's not a big difference. Both are great consoles.

It's not that great if you don't live in US... (Marketplace takes forever to load)
Xbox 360 have more games, but they have been out longer, and ps3 seems to get alot of exclusvies now...
Then I prefer my ps3, with different servers for EU, US, asia and JP so I can get faster loading times and service (for free :))
I don't live in the US and Xbox Live works perfectly for me. There's no loading problems on the Marketplace/Arcade and downloads have an acceptable speed (for example, less than 10 minues for a 250MB download). It may be just me but everything feels everything since I intalled NXE (the fall update).

My ps3 downloads quick, my xbox downloads slower but it can be cause the tv antenna disturbs the network, and with all the computers on, the ps3 just uses ethernet cable, I tried using it for the 360 but it only disconnected me once I got in...

I don't really know which versions they had, but I believe that the older models are the ones you have to look out for. MS managed to sort out the problem, so most of them don't snuff it now. However, the older your console, the more likely it seems that it will snuff it.
Bare in mind that I don't have a 360 though. This is just all experience from my mates.
