NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt says his actress wife Jennifer Aniston is at a crossroads now that her hit NBC TV sitcom "Friends," is ending its 10-year run and hinted the time might be right to embrace parenthood.

"She's saying goodbye to an era that meant a lot to her, to great friends and experiences," Pitt said on Friday during a promotional stop for his upcoming film, "Troy."

"There's the sadness of that and the acceptance of that, but also the excitement of a new era. So it's that transitional spot, that moment when you're at a depot and let's see where you go now."

Asked if he was ready for fatherhood, Pitt said: "Yeah, it's time.

"I finally think I'm at the place where I won't mess him up too much, and Jen's in agreement that I won't mess him up too much," said Pitt, 40.

Pitt, who plays warrior Achilles in the movie based on Homer's Iliad opening May 14, shrugged off gossip about a romance with co-star Angelina Jolie during the making of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," due out next year.

"I get it, it fits into a lot of archetypes," he said about magazines trying to make an item out of the sex symbols.

"But at this point we just stay away from it all," he said about how he and Aniston, 35, handle such publicity.

Pitt said Jolie has an undeserved reputation.

"I've never seen anyone so misperceived as Jolie. She's a really decent human being and dedicated with her U.N. work and very dedicated to her child," he said, referring to her role as a goodwill ambassador for the office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and her adopted Cambodian son, Maddox. Yahoo.com

Can you just imagine how gorgeous a child of theirs will be? I think they'll be great parents...they seem like very down to earth people in spite of all the fame & money. :D
