It's an EXE file that replaces an existing one so that you don't have to use a CD for your games. You can download them from gaming sites, I think. :)

He will slap your wrist you know, don't make him!
But yeah, No-CD Cracks/patches are illegal and cannot be discussed on here.
But can't No-CD patches also be used if you've installed a game but simply lost the disk?

if u lost the disc thats clumsy ;) officially using a no-cd exe IS illegal and supporting those who use them for illegal reasons.. so best keep hold of your discs eh?

^ errr. ok :D
All of the above. Mostly for lazy people that don't want to place their disc in the drive.
Besides being a shady practice, they also cause odd glitches in lots of games. For example, in Black & White 2, your worshiper's children can't grow up if you use a patched EXE. Weird huh?

But are you allowed to copy all your files on your original CD to another CD to backup? But not to lend or give out to anyone? Just for personal use? In case you lose the original CD?
But TR3? No-CD Patch on TRC ;) You can play it Without the disc.

The act of making your backup isn't what's illegal. Its the fact that they put copy protection on the disc to prevent you from doing so, and that you'd have to circumvent said protection. That's the part that's illegal.

precisely.. we still own the IP.. so whilst u own the disc, we own the code on it.. the eula gives u permission to use the code on that disc.

And on that happy note, it's goodnight from this thread :wve:
