View Full Version : PS2 : Where are all the spiders and stuff then?
I have just taken delivery of my PS2 Underworld, and was upset to play it, and not find any vases, containing treasures, many things missing from the walkthrough, and I have only had to shoot twice, once for Tigers and once for lizards! where are al the bits?! Yeah , and what about the swarms of spiders and bats?LOL!
Am I reading a walkthrough for PS3 or Wii?
Should I have these things on my game?
Confused gamer.
First - you should have put this thread into the Underworld section ;)
Second - yeah, Iīve heard that PS2 version is a crap, so itīs probably right that there all these things missing...
Oh, and a warm welcome to you too. Thanks for nothing!:tea:
Welcome to the forums, Bridie :)
The things you list are indeed pieces that aren't featured in the watered down PS2 version of TR:Underworld. If you play the X360/PS3/PC version of the game, you'll find many more additions and large sections of the game that aren't in the PS2 version.
Moving to TR:U section.

Try reading the walkthrough for Wii. It won't be exactly the same since the Wii version has extra mini-puzzles, but in most places I think it is roughly similar based upon videos I have seen so far.
By the way, welcome to the forums :)

Is it just me or the PS2 version is also missing medipacks?!

Like the Wii version Lara will regenerate her full health so health packs are not needed.
Ok! I thought that was the problem! Can't deny it was a bit of a let down, I will try the Wii walkthrough, next time I am stuck. Thanks for your warmer welcomes everyone!
Now, let's sort out that doppelganger......:):):):)

It's an ok game. PC/ PC3/ XBOX 360 version is far, FAR better. I can't talk about the graphics, because PS2 is supposed to be an "old" console, but I don't understand why there aren't many enemies. I was surprised not to see the giant spiders in Xibalba. There are also areas that were left out, however there are rooms that don't exist in the PC/ PC3/ XBOX 360 version or are set up differently. So, it worths the try.

I surely hope that the will have all that fixed up before the release it in the US..

The game will be exactly the same XxEMODUDExX, developer finished it last year so nothing has been changed in all the time it has been sitting around waiting to finally be released. There is nothing wrong with the game so why would anything be "fixed".

^I was just saying because they keep postsponing it. You would think they were fixing things up.
sorry to bump am old thread but are there really NO spiders in the ps2 version? That would be fantastic!
Really. and none in the wii version either.

Quite honestly the PS2 will require very little need for a walkthough.
I only had to refer to the Wii walkthough twice when I got stuck.
The game is very linear with many invisiable walls to keep you on a one way track without exploring. This unfortunately is the case with all versions to a greater or less extent, (compaired to TR1, 2, 3, 4 and TRC). After that invisable walls was the norm.
There are very few enemies, they die oh so easily, self regeneration of energy for lara, and continous suppy of bullets for all weapons. I only died a very few times due to lack of energy, dying was mainly due to falling off great heights :D
Visually, the game is not on par with some of the other formats, but it is still good compaired to PS2 version of TR anniversary and TR legend.
There are many new moves avalable to Lara and the PS2 controls are good, with the exception of jumping beams diagonally to another beam, as she seems to get stuck in her attempts to jump forwards, requiring a second or third attempt.
Once you get to giant swinging hammer rooms you will appreciate the graphics.
The PS2 version of the game is still very good, if you do not have an alterative way of playing the game.
there is a PS2 walkthrough here if you need it :wve:

I didn't know that ps2 is different. Maybe I'll play it too then
Very few enemies...the Wii PS2 version was more exploration and puzzle centric. If you wanted action, X-box, PC or PS3 was the platform to go.
As for the health regeneration, it was handy unless you were cornered! you couldn't just pop a medi-pack! :D And I took a lot less caution with my Wii versaion than with the PS3.
Honestly, they both have their ups and downs. (I still prefer the trap rooms of Wii/PS2's Xibalba over the others, though!)
It's about time you took the plunge to get an Xbox 360 because clearly this is the platform that the game is best played on - exclusive DLC being why and official costumes available free.
PS2 is near enough dead. It's lasted a VERY LONG time and was my favourite console up until 2006, when I purchased an Xbox 360. You can get them pretty cheap now.

i got totally agree with those who think PS 2 version is suck .I just shocked when i see all the missing parts including secret jars and medipacks and many on , the terrible graphics ,weak sound and pityless hard controlled main menu. Even TR LEGEND and TR ANNIVERSARY (for PS2) was so very much better than TRU.I still can t believe in what i saw. But of course the PC or ps3 version would be great but , at least the CRYSTAL DYNAMICS should not have degraded so much for this future promised game.Is this the game which I have been waiting for months?:hea:
So theres no spiders whatsoever in the PS2 version? I might have to pick it up. :D
