I was wondering about the thread at Tech Support, and now you. I had to try, but what ever I type on Google, I get none of those "This site may harm your comp" messages

Reminds me of The IT Crowd.
"I am the head of IT and I have good authority...if you type 'google'...into Google...you can break the internet. So please, no one try it. Even for a joke."
*Guy starts laughing*
"This is not a laughing matter. You can break the internet."

Well, uhm... Google may list harmful sites in your search results, and may therefore harm your computer. :p

Ok what?

I got that, I was using it earlier on today and every link I clicked on it would say "this site may be harmful to your computer"

Every single link I clicked, and then it wouldn't open the page.
Thought I had some weird virus or something.

Tell me about it XD. It once said that it won't show me the search because my computer might be at risk.. Dunno what was up with that. Later it worked, but during the wait time I was like without hands. xD

Well, that's pretty much what happened now.

At first I thought something was wrong just with the page I was trying to load, but then I noticed ot was the same for every single search. :p Annoying as hell!

I wonder if it would be possible to break google with some paradoxical search that would confuse it until it all blew up...

That depends on if there are any combustible materials stored in or near the server that Google resides on.

I suppose if all the fans stopped working and the system overheated. But then I'm sure Google is housed in more than one physical location. :whi:

We maintain a list of such sites through both manual and automated methods.

We periodically update that list and released one such update to the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file.

Never before has the need to dot every i and cross every t been so crucial to a company's success.
