View Full Version : If you like Tomb Raider . . .
Tomb Raider is actually the only PC game that I play (the classics plus the CD versions). I'm interested in branching out a bit. If someone really likes Tomb Raider, what other games do you think they would enjoy? Be interested in any recommendations.

My recommendation would be Prince of Persia, the 3 Sands of Time games and the 2008 game (simply called Prince of Persia). They are all great, with plenty of puzzles, acrobatics, battles, etc. :)

it very much depends, what are you into???
my personal favourites are lord of the rings games (depends what console you're playing on, the sims (i know this is either a hate/love game), spyro and things like that
i know what you mean about branching off, i hate change and the tomb raider series are where im happiest :P
i must say though if u have a ps3/xbox/pc lord of the rings conquest had some very nice scenery and water effects but thats only if ur into all tht ;)

If you have a Nitnendo gamecube or a Wii, Metroid Prime 1, 2 (Gamecube) or 3 (Wii) are some of the best games you can get.
It is an FPS, but it's so different from anything you've played. Great puzzle's, backtracking and even good combat.
Definetely worth a try! :tmb:
For PC, No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 might interest you.

It really depends, I love Tomb Raider but I also love other kinds of games. You'd probably enjoy Uncharted though.

As you play on PC I would reccommend !!
1. Prince of Persia (new game) I am half way through it and It is very good.
2. Assasins Creed. A bit repetitive but a good storyline.
3. Beyond good and evil. A great game by Ubisoft ( but about 2 years old.

i would recommend Deus Ex & Deus Ex: Invisible War. guess who published them ... the name starts with an E :D
but nevertheless, these games are brilliant imo.
My favourite games that kinda remind me of TR are Beyond Good & Evil(ZOMG can't wait for 2:D),BloodRayne(1&2),Prince of Persia(all of them:p),Assassin's Creed,and I'll also say The Longest Journey & Dreamfall because they rawk(:cln:)and they have great storylines,great puzzles and awesome main characters(Zoe has a ponytailxD).:tmb:
Be sure to check out Core Design's amazing Project Eden (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=99594&highlight=project+eden). With the exception of the first 3 Tomb Raider games, some of the best work Core ever did. The unique part of this game is that you can switch back and forth between four different characters throughout the whole thing. You need 2 or more of the characters to act as a team to be able to solve many of the puzzles (of which there are loads of). A couple of the levels take upwards of 2 hours to complete. Highly recommended!

Indeed! One of my favorite video game series of all time. Officially they call it a First Person Adventure though.:P

Oh, and for the OP I highly recommend Mirrors Edge for PC.

But it feels just like a 1st person TR game with tons of leaps,climbs and secrets to find... Some of the rooms themselves are like puzzles, trying to find your way across the realistic landscapes.
Prince of Persia, Uncharted, Assassins Creed and Mirrors Edge are all good ones! :tmb:

I would recommend:
1. Prince of Persia (original trilogy) and the new one
2. Resident Evil 1-4 (although it's not TR it is still a fantastic gaming franchise)
3. Mirrors Edge (platforming, little emphasis on combat, great environmental puzzles)

Yes! I totally loved those games and recommend them, but they're incredibly hard to find, I don't know why. :confused:
if you like TR i recommend...
Legacy of Kain: soul Reaver, soul Reaver 2, Defiance. 3er person perspective, the controls are very TR Cd like, and the story is captivating...
Prince of persia: Sands of time, Warrior within, and thrones. plus new PoP... that is just fun plus 3er person perspective.

I don't know if this helps you, because the game i recommend is only for the Gamecube. It's called Metroid Prime en it has the same sort of atmospehere and feel of isolation..but it's somewhere in space instead of on earth. A lot of backtracking, puzzling and a great ambience soundtrack. But on the PC i can recommend you Prince of Persia but that game is more lineair then the original TR games from Core. Maybe there are still some Indiana Jones games be found like Efernal Machine (if i spelled it correct). Other then that, i don't know. Maybe Shadow Man. It's eerie, macabre and very atmosperic. You solve puzzles and do some jump and climb work. Backtracking here and there but not as much as in Tomb Raider or Metroid Prime.

Tomb Raider a copy of Uncharted? You mean Underworld on his own...or that the original Uncharted is from 1994? That's still a little newer then Pitfall on the Atari. And maybe Uncharted is a copy of Indiana Jones.
