How would you guys like to see the first Tomb Raider game turned into a movie? I personally would LOVE IT! Imagine the set pieces - the waterfall in Vilcabamba, the snowy mountains of Peru, the Lost Valley with T-Rex, the Lava pools of Atlantis ready to emplode! I personally think it would be amazing especially if it was done right. Obviously some things would need to be cut to fit into a 2 hour film but i could work. OMG Francis Folly could be amazing! :D

I think it would make a very boring film, there's hardly any character interaction for the most part.

To make it good they would Seriously need to flesh out all the characters and their back stories, possibly even veer away from parts of the story of TR1.
It works well as a game, but I can't see it working as a film.

I see your point but i think that a bit of imagination could really work. Imagine Lara racing against Pierre to pass through St Francis Folly during a gun-scene. She wouldn't nessaceraly need to get all the keys from the various rooms to open the door at the bottom but that whole set piece would be amazing! Also a good gun fight in the Cistern while swimming through the ancient sewars raising the water levels. It would need to be done very well to adapt the story but it could work. Yes it may have to vear slightly away from the game and include Natla more and Larson & Pierre.

No I agree with Rivendell. It would make the most boring film in ages. The best TR videogame to became a film would be Legend or underworld. Or maybe take it from there.

Again. A film about a beautiful woman going alone on underworld tombs fighting monsters wont work. Fans may hate it but the movies are been made for a wider audience. not the 2-3 millions who bought the game but the 50-100 millions who will see the movie on theatre!

When I had played tomb raider in early 1997. I didn't even understand english so I hadn't understood te plot. now playing anniversary apart from Natla been an ancient creature I find nothing interesting in there. it wouldn't make a good movie.

I don't think you understand what i mean about making the TR1 story into a movie. I'll explain. . .

I think they should take the basics of the story (Scion, Natla, Pierre, Larson, Atlantis etc) and build upon the story to fit into the set pieces of the original game. So it wouldn't nessaceraly be just a film following Lara on her own into a cave as that would be boring! It would be bigger and more explanatory than that. The story would be bigger and elaborated on and maybe even Natla would have a much bigger part as a true female nemesis?

The problem (as others have mentioned) with the TR1 storyline, even at it's most basic level it's not viable as a film adaptation. Too little human interaction as the chief problem. We'll see the core concept that is Lara Croft but that's about it I suspect.

I'd love them to take elements from TR1, TLR, AOD, TRL, and TRU. That would make an awesome film. :tmb: Imagine Natla, Von Croy, Amanda, Larson, Pierre, and maybe even Kurtis together in one film. :mis: It's freaking amazing to just think about it... Not to mention Janice! :cln:

Please no... Or I will cry and it would be suicide for the franchise. Enough with revisiting that game.

I won't mind if they don't freak the game story  But...
Enough with holliwoodizing the game itself. Let the movies be movies and TR be TR at last for God's sake!

I totally agree with you here - I HATE how the new games (TRL & TRU) have been "Hollywoodized" by CD. What I used to love about Lara's charater was the fact that she was rebelling from her heritage (and parents wishes) by becoming a treasure hunting Tomb Raider. Being a "Tomb Raider" has nothing to do with "saving the world" which is exactly what I HATE about the movies and the recent games.

Go back to Lara's orginal bio and origins and bring Lara back to how she was meant to be - a tough, athletic girl that knows what she wants and will do anything to get it no matter the costs in order to to suit herself and full-fill her desire for adventure and danger!

Make the story be about Lara doing just what she can to get an artefact that she wants. The Scion doesn't need to be a weapon on mass destruction but rather an ancient artefact that holds the secrets of the ancient world. Natla neither be a god either, she could be just another normal woman with money and power (like Lara) who wants to get it also.
