Just curious to know. I'm currently ripping most of my CD's at the moment. Won't have a total just yet. :p

Well.. *coughs*

I have 20gb+ of ripped CD music on my hard drive.. other than that I don't really know. I have tonnes of CDs though, and I don't know where to put them. :|

Not much only about 2 GB's, only about 200 songs. I don't listen to much music.

Okay well...
my iPod currently holds 7242 songs on it.
BUT I don't even know that many songs,
like 1/3 of it are from friends computers, I mean if I like their music
I'll transfer it to my iPod and listen from time to time.

I think there are 4000+ songs on my iPod from CDs and a few downloaded albums from iTunes. Might be more on my pc that I didn't put on my iPod.

12GB of mp3's + 20GB of music videos = 32GB all up.

More than 7 gigabytes, and about 400-500 artists. I'm a self-admitted audiophile. :p

I'm a self-admitted audiophile. :pWow you have sex with your music? Radical. :ton:

Mine would be about 10GB.
:) I don't really follow music trends, I just listen to the ones I really like. I have some fave OSTs.

200-something, nearly 300 songs, I think. Not sure about how many gigs that works out to.

Melonie Tomb Raider
11-02-09, 03:52
8 gigs if I remember correctly.

Lenochka
11-02-09, 03:55
3.79GB - 645 songs

I tend to do a monthly clean up where I take out tracks I don't see myself listening to much in the future. (I hate using up too much space on my harddrive xD)

mines about the same... less than 1 GB really. about half that I'd say. But it depends on song length and quality. Mine are either 64 or 128 kbps (I can fit more on the phone that way - and there's really not much difference that I can tell when you use a crappy speaker). My phone has about 9 videos on there too + room to spare for photos.

Well i have all of my music on CD as well (i like having the box and to be able to read the booklet things) and thats about 20gb.

Things that aren't hard copied (downloaded songs etc) only runs to about 1gb.

I don't think I could ever find the patience to put all my CDs in the PC. Specially with the classical music CDs, organizing those would be a pain in the ass.

But still, my digital music collection amounts to arond 38 Gb. :p 8 Gb above my mp3 player limit. :(

11-02-09, 14:27

why did you do that:confused:

this doesn't accomplish anything but make the files bigger! the data is gone permanently when you first rip out to 128 kbps. increasing the quality as such is not possible. you would have to do a new rip (or conversion) from source that has higher quality.

I had about 2000+ songs on my old computer.
I only had about 850 of them on my ipod though, and only meant to copy about 600 of them cause I went on a deleting spree before I transfered all my music on to my hard drive, but I now have 1700 on my ipod.

30,000+ songs (over 200G), acquired online and and ripped from my own vast record, cassette and cd collection. I have been using my turntable of late to digitize some of the oldest records in my collection, many are 78's given to me by my father and grandfather.

I now have a pc entirely devoted to my music. On it are everything from Al Jolson to Dee-Lite.

Not only that, but I have it all backed up on 2 external drives, and on DVD as well. And I am looking into purchasing some reasonably priced, solid state drives to archive them as well.

Oh no no, multiple dvds. Sorted and archived with multiple copies on various brands of disks. In other words I have all of my "Mitch Miller" type stuff archived on a dvd, with multiple copies of it burned on different brands of dvd disks.

I don't really like dual layer disks. In theory they sound good, but in reality I have had nothing but problems with them. No player that I have does a good job of reading them well and in a timely fashion.

1# Better sound quality (get info in the track and it CLEARLY shows the difference)

2# Unlocking some of the copy writes, making the files allowed in GarageBand to record next to

3# Now I can send those Mp3's to many computer I want and they can play them instead of getting the "You are not authorized to play this track on this machine" window.

About 10GB on my harddrive, excluding the 7 or 8 piles of cd's I have next to it X_X

11-02-09, 20:35
OK...
I've got...
100 tracks of Classical Music/5MB average = 500MB
About 70 Nightwish songs/6MB average = 420MB
About 40 Evanescence songs/5MB average = 200MB
About 100 other songs/6MB average = 600MB

Total 310 songs = 1720MB ~ 1.7GB

wait.. are you saying that "updating your itunes library" made the second copy to be bigger bitrate (kbps) or are you saying that you personally took some 128 kbps file and converted it to 256 kbps?

because the second scenario does not work for the outcome you suggested -
first scenario I can see working - but is not a file conversion. you are just downloading a whole new copy at higher quality.

but .... I don't mess with DRM or iTunes in the first place. everything is ripped from my own CD collection.
