the number of seconds elapsed since midnight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight) Coordinated Universal Time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time) (UTC) of January 1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_1), 1970 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970), not counting leap seconds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leap_second).

basically, programmers can use dates in their applications and it converts (depending upon the language) to a numerical string. you can then say for instance:

Datex-Datey = difference

thereby arriving at a number of days between the two dates. without having to code it each time. It is a very useful function. ;)

who are you call%6 9ng a mere mortal% 3f ...hmmm might wanna brush up the grammar in HEX language though..:p

spikejones
14-02-09, 05:26
might want to remove the spaces as the forum adds them in and there is nothing I can do about it

hex characters are comprised of 4 bits where ascii are comprised of 8 bits. so... two hex characters = 1 ascii character. put those hex characters back together and you'll fix it. ;)
