It's good, but way too long for an intro ;)

^^ My thoughts exactly. If they kept the old one with the few changes they made, or only the couch part, that would have been better. But both of them just felt too long and dragged on.

It's not the longest 'couch gag' anyway - as far as I know, the Evolution Couch Gag is the longest.

The couch gag won't be in every episode. If you watch the simpsons, you know that from after homer runs from/gets hit by the car, it changes every episode.

Y'know what I miss? Lisa coming over the hill on her bike and the books jumping up. :)

So that was one of those parts at the end of the opening, like when they all go to the couch and the find an octopus sitting there, or Lisa and Bart are big in size and Homer and Marge are tiny ??

That was the longest I've ever seen. Mind you, I don't follow the Simpsons (its not shown here).

Indeed. I think the longest I'd seen until this thread was the James Bond one, when Homer spends ages walking through corridors. Family Guy also parodied it with Peter getting into his secret pr0nz stash.

Since when can the Simpsons afford a HD tv? Not that it lasted too long :p

The new opening is fun if a bit unessicary :) I liked the old one just fine.

Although I did get a laugh out of "Krusty: Now doing Funerals" :D

I like it, it has the charm of the old one with some new reinnovation, thanks for sharing. :tmb:

Never was a big fan of the Simpsons, though. :p

I know it's probably an unpopular point of view, but I don't like this new opening. To me, it represents a huge problem that has plagued The Simpsons for years now... it's trying too hard...

For my money, The Simpsons was awesome in the 90s, and started its descent about the 10th season. The last new episode I watched was 'You Kent Say What You Want', and I cringed during much of it. Humour in the show now seems to consist solely of Homer whispering loudly and characters repeating things in 'hilarious' strained tones. 'Celebrities playing themselves' is symptomatic of general crappiness too - the worst probably being NSync. Just awful!

Yeah, I don't know what it is about The Simpsons now, but the humour just . . . fails. I see no point of changing the opening now. The original opening is just classic, and should remain untouched, unless it's a special occasion.

That's what I thought! i guess its just that episode's couch gag. I did like Homer's look though when he gets hit with the car.

Kinda long?

dcw123
15-02-09, 23:20
It wont be that long for other episodes everyone LOL.
The whole couch chase bit IS the gag:p
And its not the only long intro, remember the one about Homer's Evolution:p
Liked how they kept old bits and mixed it with the new.;)
Shame I don't have Sky though, so I can't watch it on Fox or Sky One:(

Did you notice "Mr. Sparkle" soap and Krusty O's in the checkout bag?

They've changed the opening of "American Dad" now too :vlol: @ Roger.

Spong

So, after just over 20 years of churning out the same material week in week out, they decide to make a new intro that's basically the same as the old one but with more colour.

And why was Hans Moleman down a drain?
