My Mum's partner just linked me to this interesting little site and I thought I would share it with you all :D Basically its (from what I can work out) a legal way of streaming albums in HQ for free and in full and they have a HUGE collection I must say (I even found Dirty Harry :D)

Basically you download their player and its like a iTunes rip off in the way its set out. You just drag and drop to make your play list and off you go! Music for free, legally!

We have deals with all the major record labels and indie aggregators to ensure that all artists who have music on Spotify are properly paid

https://www.spotify.com/en/work-with-us/labels-and-artists/

I am honestly so impressed with this! :) Its a great way of listening to new albums, in particular ones you might not of had the chance to otherwise (or unsure about buying)

oh and I don't think it works for people in the US..sorry :(

I used this a lot when i had my PC working almost three weeks ago, but i talked to a friend of mine who gave me the invite and he said that most music companies have requested them to remove most music they offer sadly. So in other terms, it was good, but not anymore apparently.

Thanks for sharing! I'd love to try it out, but how exactly do you get an invitation token?

I just clicked on "free" on the main page George. It should work.

I posted that in the first post!

Spotify users access one of the fastest growing catalogues of licensed music in the world. Music fans get to enjoy their favourite artists showcased in a high-quality application that’s a delight to use. The net result is an unparalleled user experience and a compelling legal alternative to piracy.

Hmm I guess it comes down to the contracts they have in place etc. I mean if they can supply enough money from the Ads and subscriptions then there shouldn't be a problem. I guess its a case of just take it down if the record label isn't happy.

You are not downloading music...you are streaming it. You cant put it onto mp3 players or CDs etc. You can just listen to it on your computer for free legally.

That was some very wishful thinking lol!! Would be nice though!

The quality is fantastic! From what I have seen they have many of the new and up to date music and albums, therefore it must be updated regularly!:)

can be recorded on your machine in several different methods though.
and given time, someone will make an application similar to station ripper (http://www.stationripper.com/) that runs against that application.

sure we do: http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=146781
besides... it says you "buy the songs you record" on that page. And notice I did not provide detailed explanation of how to do it "illegally". Does anyone complain when you make a tape recording of the radio, or DVR a movie on digital television? The way I see it, that is the same thing but in different format.
