View Full Version : What are you grateful for?

I'm interested to find out what things that people here are grateful for. Yes, I know it is not Thanksgiving yet for a several months. But all the same, I think we should reflect upon those things which we have to be grateful for, regardless of the time of year.

Here is my list:

1. I am alive
2. I am not in jail anymore
3. I have family that cares about me
4. even though I am not working, I have a roof over my head
5. I have plenty of food to stay nourished
6. I have a means of transportation, regardless of how cold it may get while riding my bike to and fro
7. There is a great community at TRF where I can go to rant and rave about this and that, and not have to worry about if someone hates me, since I can choose to ignore them.
8. I am in fairly good health
9. I am able to hand situations now which used to baffle me.
10. I don't find it necessary to take a drink or a drug anymore.

What about you, can you name 10 things that you are grateful for?

This is a really good idea.
I could only thing of 7 though...

1)Being alive, I came so close to death it scares me, it made me appreciate life.

2)My girlfriend, she helped me out of such a dark place and I truly owe her my life. I love her more than anything.

3) My health, I might not be the healthiest of people but I am in generally in good health.

4)Having a home, I know so many donít , and I was homeless for a while so I will never take having a roof over my head for granted.

5)Getting a good education and maybe having the chance to go to university this year. I donít think Iíd of been able to back home.

6)Having enough food to eat and fresh water when I know so many do not
.
7)Having amazing supportive friends who are there when I need them

I'm grateful for having a healthy baby  The most important thing for me.

Other things:
2. I am healthy and strong, so I can take of my child.
3. My husband is healthy, so we both can provide a decent life for our child.
4. I'm working (although I'm getting back on May :p )
5. I have a friend that will always listen to me.
6. My family (parents and brother) will support me for ever.
7. I have the strength to be on the internet on 1 am after an exhaustive day :p

1- Being in good health.
2- Having no real responsabilities.
3- Being muslim.
4- Living at ease, eating, drinking, having a home, having so many caprices in contast to millions of people on earth.
5- Not drinking, not smoking and not taking drugs.
6- Having fairly satysfying marks at school
7- Having the possibility to buy something, or travel if I want to.
8- And overall, having a better life than so many people in life.

That's it :)

I see a lot of good things on here. It's good to see that people aren't putting things like the X-Box or PS3 in place above family. That is very encouraging to see.

we dont celebrate it here in england :(
bummer... I guess that makes sense though considering how it originated. But that does not mean you can't feel free to participate in a general discussion of being grateful for those things you have. I only mentioned the bit about thanksgiving in attempt to dispel any possible remarks about it not being that time of year. In reality, we don't need a holiday in order to reflect upon those things that are important to us.

@quasi... what is the skill in your right hand? is that artwork you speak of?

Most of all I'm grateful for having a home, a family, food and health. Whenever I'm feeling depressed, I think of those "simple" things and I tell myself: "you are so spoiled, you have everything a good life needs and you're still crying and whining". :pi:

4. That I am in University, it's been a long hard journey but I am here! When others used to say i'll never get there. I proved them wrong! :D
5. Learned from my troubles in the past, and it has helped me to become a strong person.

I think I recall a thread some months ago from you. about having liver problems was it?

at any rate, it is good that you have a mother who cares so much for you, and that you are able to live outside of the hospital. Don't give up hope though, you may come out of this yet.

Gee I remember that thread. How am I still alive? :| It's like I'm going with the flow and expecting it, but... :| I mean the pains are excruciating sometimes on the right side of the chest and it's hard to breathe too, it's not even easy to ignore anymore like it was, and I'm losing weight too. Ah **** anyway, I wished I never started drinking.. don't drink folks, wished I could be some advertisement for youngsters. lol :S

DON'T DRINK!!!

I don't think I can list what I'm grateful for. I'm grateful for a lot of things in my life and listing all of them impossible while listing only some of them seem unfair to me. I'm greateful for most of the things that happened in my life because they build the person I am today and all of them will help me in future situations.
