A gruesome reminder that wild animals are still wild. A chimp which appeared in several commercials went after it's handler's friend in Connecticut. Read the article below in the San Francisco Chronicle:

Huge chimp shot dead after mauling woman in Conn. (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2009/02/16/national/a162121S70.DTL)

In stories like this I always feel sorry for the animal... he shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. I also feel sorry for the woman who got attacked (obviously) and the woman who had to stab an animal she obviously loved for years... well, it's just sadness all around... :(

Chimps shouldn't be kept by humans. Animals cannot be held responsible for being bigger and stronger than humans. I feel sorry for the person hurt but a chimp needs to be with its own kind.

We share relatives..and a lot of dna. But we didn't originate from chimps. We share an ancestor.

*and please don't jump on my beliefs*

And this is just a reminder why animals like that should not be kept as pets. I can’t believe you are even one. It’s just not right.
Poor chimp. :(

I hope the lady that got attacked is ok though.

This is a reminder of how horrible chimpanzees actually are. All in all, not much different from humans.

Yeah, I think chimps in the wild have been observed to kill for no reason at all, just for fun... can't get much more "human" than that... :(

Chimps....like humans like meat when they can get it. They usually kill for food...or like humans because they don't get on.

Her sister-in-law, Kate Nash, said Tuesday morning that Nash underwent surgery Monday night and came out of it

Isn't Kate Nash a singer? :o

Never really cared for chimps or monkeys (besides Spider monkeys, they're adorable). Though it makes me sad when I hear stories like this, almost all the animals end up getting killed, I'll never forget the San Diego incident where poor Tatiana was shot.... which I believe was WRONG.

In this case, it sounds like they really didn't have an alternative. Too bad they weren't able to tranquilize him. All in all, I do not think they should be kept as pets, no matter how trained they are, etc.

It might sound mean, but what the hell was she doing with a chimp?

It's not a domestic animal, this news doesn't surprise me at all.

I do feel sorry for those who were hurt in the process, though.

Wild Animals are NOT PETS.

That animal was obviously over fed. Whoever heard of a frickin 200lb Chimp? It's a Chimp not a Gorilla.

That and it probably could not get proper exercise. The city is no place for a wild animal.

Oh my goodness. I can't go either way on this, because the animal was violent, but then again it was a living thing.

Just sorry to hear it.
