It's been forever since I watched the film, but I don't remember their faces being totally dissimilar from their faces in the game. The 'Lisa Garland' nurse had blood coming from her eyes because she 'peeped' in on Alessa as she lay burnt on a hospital bed as I think it has something to do with she sees so much hate that it made her eyes bleed? Not entirely sure.

Yeah, and that's where the fires were supposed to have happened. :p

...Atleast I think that's what happened.

They took the visual style from the games, so you'd be better of playing those if you want a better understanding of why things in Silent Hill are the way they are. But even then it's not explained much.

No.. ANyone who has played the GAMES, will know that the entire town is engulfed with Alessa's thoughts and hate.
The town Rose is in is an alternate reality (hance why her husband couldn't find her- and the ending too)
Everything in the Nightmare world, has a rotten, burned look to it.
Alysaa's hate grew so strong, it manifested as physical energy, swallowing the town into her sub-concious thought. (This applies more to the SH1 Game but same here to some extent)
For everything SH 1-4 and the film, I know a great site that has real life based theories into the SH Mythology, as well as character analysis and other interesting facts..
I learned new stuff, especially about SH2, and I've had the games since they came out in 2000.

Their faces have morphed, kind of like what can happen to you if you have severe burns. They were based on the Silent Hill 2 nurses. But they reflect James' sexual desires, so we can only assume they represent Alessa's injuries from the fire. Kind of like how the Lying Figures have melted into themselves.

Edit - Note how you can hear them screaming/moaning slightly, also a metaphor for the pain Alessa had to go through.

I don't really remember well but I think that at least in the game, the nurses represented how Alessa wanted her body to be. Don't know if it applies to the movie as well. Now about their faces, I'm not really sure... :whi: :p

No, It's not Translated Memories.
I say 'site' but really its pages from a Plot Analysis.
GREAT read, but it'll take quite a while to read it all depending on how fast you are...

Heres a bit from th beginning. Explains the real life explainations.

1-2. Accumulation.
The psychic energy of thoughts and feelings has the ability to
concentrate in a particular location, which is somehow connected to the
source of the energy. Usually, such locations are places where strong
feelings have been experienced, possibly more than once. We could
theorize that this is the reason, why the natives believed, that spirits
inhabited the trees, water and earth.
And if a place comes to "store" the thoughts and feelings of a several
people, this place will eventually develop a "power" of it's own.
According to Lost Memories, the town of Silent Hill can be described as a
"spiritual sponge", which absorbs the energies of people's thoughts and
feelings in great quantities. Let us look at some of the most prominent
examples in the SH series :

a) SH3: The negative thoughts of a particular suicidal girl are connected
to the merry-go-round in Lakeside Amusement Park and continue to exist
even after her death ("At the merry-go-round in the amusement park, the
"memory of Alessa (Alessa's obsession)" appears. In accordance with her
name, she is not Alessa herself but her profoundly dark emotion that
clings to this place" - LM).

Those things on their faces look like bondages. I'm not sure really. Could be anything. And the nurse lady in red, she was crying with blood because when Alessa was in the hospital, the nurse looked at her and she cursed her eyes.

Actually they have these big gaping wounds that symbolize screams of torture. Every "monster" in the movie represents emotions and feelings from Alessaīs past. Much like the movie poster itself. Blank eyes because her soul left her body split in two (Dark Allessa and Sharon) and only thing left is hatred and no mouth because she wonīt be able to smile nor cry ever again.

Long time ago I wrote a lot about this so let me just dig more stuff on nurses. Even though the movie is a little clumsy in what it does itīs not really that empty. A lot of stuff was explained by Gans on his blog and french interview.

The nurses in the movie are completely misleading. They have faces that resemble gnarled & knotted wood on a tree trunk and to be honest, in the context of the movie, they really don't mean anything. Their presence in the movie is purely a nod to the second game, and a pathetic attempt on Roger Avery's part to display his apparent "amazing grasp" on what Silent Hill was. In actuality (as has already been stated) the nurses represented James Sunderland's lust for his wife in Silent Hill 2, which is why they appear so overtly sexual. But since then, they've been utilised again and again, and completely unnecessarily so (to the point where people are sick of seeing them). I really cannot see how they can be connected in any way to Alessa's suffering in the movie.

As for Lisa (the nurse in red), it was another reference, this time to the first Silent Hill. Alessa's pain, her hate and desire for revenge lashed out and hurt those who "were only trying to help her" as is said in the movie.

Well the nurses in SH1(that are completly different but they still are nurses) represented Alessia envy for adult female body that she never will have

I suppose to make a new title about mine but I just saw this and want to make a comment about Silent Hill Movie...

I just saw the special feauters 2 hours ago and I am wondering if some of the scenes had been banned... Like the one where that freaky monster attacked Anna and she survived and saved by Cybil who shot it and Rose was with her too... I never knew this one and I am sure I didn't see this in the movie and I am going to edit this one just by finding this movie on youtube and wodner why they banned it... It was better than the original one...

This seems to vary upon moderators but you can't bump a thread over three months old unless you're adding something new such as an important and relevant update.

But seeing as how this thread is two years old, this question should have probably just been posted in the Silent Hill video game thread for a quick and easy reply.

And seeing as how everyone seems to be more obsessed with your bump than actually helping you, I'll answer your question instead.

Movie scenes are constantly left out/deleted for either two reason; time constraints or pacing. In this case, I would take a guess and say this was removed due to pacing. We already know those monsters spit acid from an earlier scene and we already know they attack people. This scene is also out of place and breaks the transition from the junkyard to the hotel. Introducing Anna at the hotel makes more sense and allowed for some character interaction between her and Dahlia, which wasn't present in the deleted scene.

OK Thanks! But I was just giving my point that the one that had been deleted is better than the original one that's it :)
