So much for Norton Firewall, Spybot, Spy sweep and the rest. This week, my system has been hit repeatedly by 3 worms and 6 seperate viruses.

I now have AVG installed which has done the trick. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

I would very much like to know what sort of thrill somebody gets from causing this technological grief.

Just wondering where you were. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif So tell me, cuz I really don't know anything about this stuff, when I run Spybot, & it comes up & tells me it's found, say, 18 problems, should I tick them all to be fixed? No idea what I'm doing here...some people just shouldn't be allowed around computers. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Yup. That's the best course of action. Software also makes a backup of changes made should anything eroginous occur.

see, the thing with Norton is that if you are going to buy it, buy the Professional software never the standard version. Because the Professional if for small business, so it has more security. That's the one I have and I haven't had a problem at all. I can't even see the banners the forum has http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif . But you know, sometimes I disable it just to click them. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

PS. I can't see the Yahoo banners that Yahoo.com has http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-2.gif , that is so cool! I hate those banners, all the time poping up.

I've never liked Norton, as those of you who know me will be familiar with me banging on about how **** it is... I've been using www.bitdefender.com (http://www.bitdefender.com) for sega. I'll have a peak at AVG tho...

The freeware version of AVG is for personal use only but commercial versions are also there.

To be honest, AVG is new to me and was suggested by a pal. I had never heard of it before this week but by golly! It does the trick!

I've used AVG for about five years I think - love it. And I have to agree with tlr (had no idea about your gripe), I detest Norton so much!

I got AVG too. I wonder how these computer 'geeks' spy on us.. being violated is horrible! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

A starting point is simple random port scans. Looking for a port, ANY port that replies. If one does, they probe further. If any 'geek' is spying on you, then it will likely be through some trojan, key logger or such like. So if you are protected adequately, you don't have to worry about them spying on you.

What is really handy is using their own port scan to hack them, its fun preying one the predator http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
