Do you have tattoos?

pics welcome.

Hey not yet but I'm going to the Brissy Tattoo Convention today :D

Will probably end up with about 3 but first will just be 2 B's (possibly made into a butterfly but I havent decided yet) looking like on my wrist at this point, for my great grandmother and grandmother who both had double B initials and were and continue to be the most infuential people in my life.

Then a Maori style hammerhead shark on my foot, in Maori culture it represents strength and tenacity, things I have been told I have in plentiful supply (and I love sharks).

And thirdly, and this is the one that is still a maybe, but a backpiece of a pheonix to remind me that you can rise from the ashes and start over as I and a few others quite close to me have done. Something like this Clicky (http://maryspence.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/tattoo.jpg)

Only thing is, ink is ****ing expensive here!

I just made this post in a tattoo-topic in the mature forum:

I don't think I'll ever get a tattoo, but that hasn't stopped me from thinking what I would get if I did anyway :p I would want something describing my inner values, and something I'd have designed myself.

http://files.noctifer.net/tattoo2.jpg

The above is what I have come up with so far (slightly expanded from the earlier version (http://files.noctifer.net/tattoo.jpg)). The geometric shapes as such resemble logic and perfection. The octagon by itself stands for the Earth and universe with all their facets, while the square to me resembles certainty and fortitude. The laurels around these shapes not only illustrate that I value what the encompassed symbols stand for, but also represent my own name, meaning "the one wearing the laurel wreath".

I'd get it on my upper right arm.

great ideas, both of you!

Yeah, Nef, ink is expensive everywhere, which sucks.

i've got about $600 worth on me, and all my stuff is fairly small, with the exception of my lower back piece.

Punaxe, yeah, your arm is a good place for a first tattoo because they won't be going right over bone, really, so it won't hurt as bad as, say, your shoulder blade.

That sounds so wrong taken out of context...

But yeah, if I got a tattoo. I would have something like song lyrics written across my back or something. I would love a sleeve tattoo, but I really don't have patience. :p

A shark.
The Artful Dodger.

I am hoping to get another in July.

Either a cat or a dove. On the left side of my back..the fat bit

I would really love something like this:
http://i43.************/51dg7s.jpg
But with waves lapping up around the writing.

I would also love "Imitation Of Life" wrapped around one side of my waist. With musical notes along it.

I'd love an eye on my neck that's tears spell out, "Come on Angel, don't you cry." and it would have like, wings behind the eye. :)

Maybe; "Run away with me tomorrow, June." written across my back.

Man, I really would love quite a few tattoos. :D

I've not got a permanent tattoo (and in all likelihood, never will), but I've used tankerfuls of henna :D

I love the artistry of some tattoos though. It's the thought of being stuck with the design for life (unless you want to shell out the big bucks for an expensive and painful removal) that puts me off.

The pain of actually getting one wouldn't bother me. After the pins and needles of staying in the same position for eight hours waiting for henna paste to dry, having ink injected directly under my skin would seem like a breeze! :p

Here are some (but not all) of mine:

The celtic sun was my first, done by Bugz in Camden - when he was regarded as one of the best celtic tattooists in the world... I wanted my first one to be a good one.

The armband was done a couple of years later and is based on a design from the book of Kells.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d162/HairyGreatDemon/blacktat.jpg

This one means "Happiness in suffering" or "Joy from suffering" - it means good things are worth suffering for.... in my case it's more literal than that, but it's a personal thing.... I wear it on my wrist to remind me everyday

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d162/HairyGreatDemon/tat1.jpg

and finally (because I don't seem to have any other photos) - this is my most recent, a stag beetle emerging from rotten wood.

I'm a big conservationist and I love insects.... plenty of people have the pretty ones tattooed, not many both with the ugly ones!

this is mine that I got just over two weeks ago. It stands for "Creativity", which is basically THE word to describe myself :) I really wanted another longer line of Japanese symbols which stood for "Laugh And Be Fat", because that is just the best view on life :D but unfortunately it cost about 200 :( maybe next time though!

I would love to have various designs on my skin, but NOT in the form of a permanent tattoo.

Things like face paint or natural colouring I don't mind because I am in the full assured knowledge that I can wash it all off once I get tired of it. :p

Aye, I'd always go for personal relevance. That's why I don't get most of the tribal tattoos...

Catracoth

I think people get tribals just for the style. I don't know anyone with a tribal tattoo that got one because it means something. Hell, I don't know anyone with a tribal tattoo period, except my Saints Row 2 character and Matt and Maero from the same game.
