View Full Version : Ripping 3d models from ps2 games
I dont know if its legal to discuss this so if its not can a mod close this.
I wanted to explore the files of Final fantasy X for ps2 to see if i can rip 3d models, enviorments, music, sound etc. from the game.
How do I do this?
Do i just insert the DVD in the drive and explore it with magicISO or ROXIO?
any help would be appreciated.
I know somebody has done this. I recall seeing pictures of Tidus, and Paine here on TRF recently.
I'd love to be able to do it to the older FF games.
^^
Such as FF8, but for precautios reasons i want to use FFX as i have 2 copies (long story)
And i dont want to risk putting 1 cd of FF8 into the pc to see if it gets majorly scratced up.
Hmm.. I wanted to do something like this too before. If anyone knows what to do please post :)
I guess it works with a PS2 emulator. But don't ask me how. I don't know anything about that stuff.

I think you can use an emulator, then run 3d ripper dx through the emulator.
I think the FFX models were done with a specific tool.
I inserted the disc, but the pc didnt recongnize it at all.
The disc kept spinning.
What do I do?
EDIT: it was just a bad disc :(
I tried burnout 3 and it loaded, im now trying to see what i can do with these files

Just to get your hopes up, someone has edited the in - game files to achieve something. However, I don't think this type of thread is allowed, so I'll not be giving links or anything. (It was a nude mod.)
^^
um no thanks, im not looking for a nude mod (ewww)
I tried FF8 for ps1, but when i inserted it in my pc, there were no files visible, yet it said that the disc space was full, also when i tried copying, it tried to copy 3 files, but failed.
I also trued TR3 for ps1 (just for a test)
The files were shown but some folders (fmv,Xa)
were empty
Do ps1 games have some sort of protection or something?
I'm just trying to copy the files to a document folder so i can explore them.

You can't just look at the models on the disk, they'll all be made in different formats. Without a specific tool for each game, the only way to do is by running the models in a decent format, i.e. using an emulator.
