View Full Version : An "iPod" feature on the next patch would be sweet

Not exactly an iPod (unless they're willing to go through all the copyright issues mabob) but having a music player for Lara would be awesome. Either it plays the game's soundtrack tunes or our own stored XMB music.

Think about it. While you're going treasure hunting, you can listen to your music while exploring :D

Anyway this idea is probably too late unless they're willing to make another patch for it after the Ps3 trophy update.

Or at least like a player inthe house where you can listen to any song from the game and still explore the mansion. Unlike in TRA it just played the songs and you couldnt move

Since I play mostly on the PC, I can run iTunes and the game simultaneously.

I ♥ this idea!! It would be nice to hear something different while playing :)

You can do something like that in the Xbox 360 too. While playing a game you can load music (from the 360's HDD, an MP3 player/USB stick or streaming it from a computer) using the Guide button's menu.

I'm kind of surprised there isn't a feature like that in the PS3 .

There is supposed to, they said they added it into a update a while back but you still can't use it on any games (that i know of at least) or maybe only a few. They should defiantly add it to the PS3 that would be a nice addition.

Heh, might be quite nice, but I did enjoy the loneliness of having the lights off, going fullscreen, and aiming for maximum immersion.. lol..

The rest of the time though, I have TRU windowed, with the debugger and tv on the 2nd screen :p

Just get your own iPod and plug it in your ears and turn the game up to where you can hear both equally. I do it all the time.

Lazy fools. :p

I don't think its that great of an idea tbh. I think it would only work well in the mainsion, and only the game's tunes.:)

Xbox 360 already has an option like just, just plug in your MP3 player/iPod through the USB and you can play all your songs and still hear the game sounds. :tmb: :D

Edit: KC beat me to it. :p

The playing of your own music doesn't always mute the game's music.

In some games, you can. Though Sony really should make a patch so you can play music in every game. :p

This is the same exact idea I had a few months ago, that's funny! :)

there are already some examples of that included in games ...

- it's found in the pc adaption of "Carcassonne"
- NFS ProStreet (PSP) has such a feature

somewhere in the settings you can choose a folder to play your own custom music from.

quite good feature i think.

I actually did this today with the PC version, it felt different and less boring :tmb:

GTA vice city has it for the vehicles, too :)

I have just one ps3 game that can do this, even though it's been supported for months :(
It would be cool, but it might ruin the atmosphere.

Oh and btw, MGS4 had an exact ipod and psp in, it's good advertising :p

Actually Microsoft somehow patented the ability to play music whilst playing games like that, so on the ps3 it has to be done in the actual game, through a soundtrack menu etc.

... or you could just buy a stereo system :p

i dunno about making an iPod for the character. that would be silly. you don't raid tombs with an iPod (or a walkman etc..) now if you want to hear your own music and you want it supported through the game, it may as well be implemented like they did in THAW. basically, you can rip CD's onto the X-Box and create a playlist. Then in the options menu of the game it lets you choose soundtrack between the default and your own playlist stored on the X-Box HDD. ;)

dunno about that other stuff they are talking about on the 360 though.
