just double click your rar file to open it and then use the "Extract To" button.

if i get an error when i try to open the folder, does that mean that what i have is a bad copy?

What does the error say VB? Perhaps WinRAR is not the default program for the RAR file for some odd reason? In that case you could right click and select "Open With" to be sure WinRAR is the program opening it.

it says that the file is either damaged or an unknown format.

1. try by opening winRAR first, then open the .rar archive
2. try right clicking, look for winRAR option in context menu -> extract here/extract all/extract to etc...
3. try right click the archive -> open WITH -> choose winRAR main executable

if all above has failed.. redownload the archive.
where did it come from? (btw.. 7-zip is a free application that can unRAR an archive ;) ) I hate the rar format :hea:
