View Full Version : 3rd movie like DaVinci Code/Angels & Demons?
What would you say if the thrid movie utilised the Angel of Darkness storyline and was made in similar tone as DaVinci Code/Angels and Demons movies with Tom Hanks? Except perhaps with more tomb (Tomb of Ancients!) raiding and even more action (Galleries under seige)...

Yes, that would be good! I like these kind of movies...
Illuminati is going to be great, too!:)
Well considering Dan Browns books and their movie adaptations are utter tripe then I would so a resounding no, although it would be a lot better than trying to rip off Bond like Cradle of life desperately attempted.
New (http://www.danbrown.com/) DB novel out this september - Robert Langdon sequel: "The Lost Symbol" :wve:

Oh hey, I thought it would be called "Solomon Key".
---
What I like about the film adaptions of the books of Dan Brown:
*The beautiful sights and the way how the architecture comes to it's right on film.
*Most of the actors are more or less believable.
*Robert Langdons seemingly endless inteligence, so fitting for the stories of which he is the protagonist.
*The way how he always comes away alive in next to impossible ways.
*The atmosphere of revelation that gets palpable when Robert Langdon has a Eureka-moment.
What I did not like...
*The fast pace of the films... I would've liked them more if the mystery would unfold more steadily.
*Some things just don't live up to the book.
*John Hurt would have been a better Robert Langdon In My Opinion... It would be better if he was chosen for this role.
My verdict:
The way the architecture and art is brought into the picture would do the Tomb Raider films good, to take a look at.
Although the shots should be longer in my opinion, and the film slower paced overall.
Important is to make the people in this film believable, strong and athletic, but not overpowered.
Be sure to cast the right people, talent first, then looks.
Avoid Clichés as much as possible, create a plot so good that you wouldn't have guessed it was based on a computer game.
Maybe I'm thinking a bit out of genre right now... I wouldn't like a Hollywood Blockbuster... not a action flick, but more a film that grabs you and won't let you go, makes you think. But maybe I'll be better of just watching other films then...

^^Well Elmer, "The Solomon Key" (which I prefer as a name) was the original rumoured title, but Dan Brown himself confirmed that "The Lost Symbol" is the name of the new book. As for the third TR film being like the Da Vinci code or even it's kid cousin National Treasure, I hope it is not the case. Let me explain: the films in question have a lot of running around looking for clues that have remained to this day, with little real exploration, just frantic ticking-bomb searches. I think the spirit of TR is its title Tomb Raider. She's an archaeologist, not a professor like Robert Langdon, so I feel that Lara should spend most of her time in ancient tombs, looking for several big clues instead of many small ones.

I agree with you here... It all goes a bit to quick in the Da vince Code film, or Angels and Demons, the same goes for National Treasure.
Therefor the films lose on power they might have had if the pace wasn't so quick!
Tomb Raider shouldn't be one big race against the clock...
(Meh, I like Solomon Key better! The new name sounds a bit Cliché if you ask me. But... what's in a name eh:) Let's hope for a good book! and a worthy succeser!)
@ Marianna: Do you mean Angel and Demons, the film? Or the IlluminatI that played a role in that film, and the book the film is based on?

I think that'd be cool. But there'd have to be plenty of Tomb Raider stuff, too.
I'd like to see a Tomb Raider movie in the style of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt/Kurt Austin/Juan Cabrillo series or James Rollin's SIGMA Force series. Particularly the latter since it offers a great mix of science and mythology/religion, the exploration of ancient and lost ruins, secret societies, and loads of intense action.

I didn't express that too well. Basically, in the SIGMA books the team uncovers various archeological finds. Upon these discoveries are the revalation of numerous supernatural ocurences that may be explained away scientifically. However, there is always something with enough doubt as to where the line between the supernatural and scientific can truly be drawn.
Just check out Map Of Bones and The Judas Strain to see what I mean.
And Lara deals with mythology plenty in her adventures so I think it'd be a tonal fit.
