Bleh, I thought the mic was the problem, so I bought a new one and it doesn't work, either! I'm using an Asus g50 laptop, and everytime I try to use my mic, it has no voice recognition whatsoever. I have no idea how to fix it, so I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks! :)

Have you made sure "Mic Volume" is not muted in the master volume settings ?

1. make sure its plugged in the proper place
2. make sure its not muted (may have to increase volume as well)
3. make sure the proper input is selected on the mixer (mic rather than line in)
4. make sure the proper sound device is selected for input

It's plugged in, nothing is muted, but I'm not sure about the rest or even how to check that.

Settings -> Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices

Under voice you should select the appropriate input device, then click on volume and make sure mic volume is turned up and not muted.

Also what program are you using with your microphone?

Run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report, Mel. It will tell us:

what version of Windows do you have
are proper sound drivers installed
what sound device is chosen for input

or just double click the volume icon to bring up the mixer - and go to properties.

is the mic a standard 3.5 mm plug, or is it a USB microphone?
