When I click on Internet Explorer it goes to our homepage which loads fine. When I click on where the address is on the bar to type something in the addess is highlighted then the hourglass cursor is there on the page and internet Explorer exits. What is causing this problem?

could just be the fact that IE sucks like that.
does it close out if you give the application ample time to load?

Maybe, lol. I let the home page load fully and yes it does exit straight after it loads.

Why not update to the latest version? At least IE8 now supports CSS somewhat properly.

Thanks for the replies I will try and update to IE 8 and see what happens.

I updated to IE 8 it has made the problem worse it freezes up and comes up with the error message saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close. It asks if I want to send an error repoert to microsoft the error contains Mod name umxsbxw.dll, offset is 000182e7. After that A stack overflow error is at line:0

Can you please download and run Hijackthis (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download), choose to save a log file and then copy/paste the contents of that log file in your next reply between tags please.

And you would be a lot better of not using Internet Explorer as your default browser, user better, safer and faster alternatives such as Firefox (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/www.mozilla.com/firefox/) or Opera (http://www.opera.com/).

We are currently using Opera as our web browser.

Go to Start>Run and type in: "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) and let the program run - this will repair any damaged system files (including IE). Once completed, restart your computer and try it again.

If after doing that it still doesn't work, it would be worth a try to disabling CA Internet Security and see if you notice any changes.

Jamie,
I have ran the program and IE still is freezing up. I have the firewall and Antivirus diasbled when trying to use IE 8 it does not make any difference. One thing I have noticed is when I did a hijack scan then clicked the upload button IE 8 opened and went to the Hijack This page, from there I typed in www.google.com.au and the google search engine came up with no problems.

IE 8 is still cooming up with the error saying it needs to close and the stack error also.

I am backing up the computer and am going to reformat the hard drive.
