I just had all my albums of Sarah returned after they had been "borrowed" for a year. I forgot how great her music is. Very talented singer/song writer.

Some of her finest work is on her Mirrorball album.

Building A Mystery

you come out at night
that's when the energy comes
and the dark side's light
and the vampires roam
you strut your rasta wear
and your suicide poem
and a cross from a faith
that died before Jesus came
you're building a mystery

you live in a church
where you sleep with voodoo dolls
and you won't give up the search
for the ghosts in the halls
you wear sandals in the snow
and a smile that won't wash away
can you look out the window
without your shadow getting in the way
oh you're so beautiful
with an edge and a charm
but so careful
when I'm in your arms

(chorus)
'cause you're working
building a mystery
holding on and holding it in
yeah you're working
building a mystery
and choosing so carefully

you woke up screaming aloud
a prayer from your secret god
you feed off our fears
and hold back your tears

give us a tantrum
and a know it all grin
just when we need one
when the evening's thin

oh you're a beautiful
a beautiful ****ed up man
you're setting up your
razor wire shrine

chorus

repeat chorus

Do What You Have To Do
What ravages of spirit
conjured this temptuous rage
created you a monster
broken by the rules of love
and fate has lead you through it
you do what you have to do
and fate has led you through it
you do what you have to do ...

and I have the sense to recognize that
I don't know how to let you go
every moment marked
with apparitions of your soul
I'm ever swiftly moving
trying to escape this desire
the yearning to be near you
I do what I have to do
the yearning to be near you
I do what I have to do
but I have the sense to recognize

that I don't know how
to let you go
I don't know how
to let you go

a glowing ember
burning hot
burning slow
deep within I'm shaken by the violence
of existing for only you

I know I can't be with you
I do what I have to do
I know I can't be with you
I do what I have to do
and I have sense to recognize but
I don't know how to let you go
I don't know how to let you go
I don't know how to let you go

Yes hello Draco, thanks for the post update. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Sir John, Her music is always listed under pop. But she is a far cry from the fluffy over comercialized stuff that is in that catagory. If you liked Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell then I think you would like Sarah.

Is she not the daughter of a jazz musician?

Sarah's voice is absolutely beautiful, and I think some of her CDs are among the best vocal recordings ever done. In other words, the recording quality is so good that recording engineers often consider her recordings almost like a "gold standard" against which other recordings are measured.

Bella, I'm also a huge Joni Mitchell fan, btw. Joni's especially famous among musicians for her guitar tunings. I have read that she is considered THE master of tunings, because she changes to a different custom tuning for almost every tune. Guitarists are often frustrated by not being able to reproduce her guitar chords because they don't know how to play all the special tunings.

Any Canadian JM fans out there?

Her music isn't nessarily what cheerful. Many of her songs deal with loss and self-evaluation so maybe her writing could be called introspective. I think alot of people can find some commen ground in her lyrics that they can relate to.

Good evening gonga http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

It's alright RobBo,

They are transforming!

Tanita Tikaram = very good female singer-songwriter, best known LP 'Ancient Heart'.
