I'm sorry to barge in on general chat, but my TV seems to have died. Roddy Ranger thinks the 'tube' might have gone. But is there any test I can do to check it really is busted before I buy a new one?

It's only nine years old. Why does this happen when I'm not earning? Rant rave etc:-, please help!

St John! Relax, perhaps this is the sign that you have been looking for that you spend too much time in front of that appparatus of the devil and you should seek purposeful recreation.!

(and in short, a test technician could diagnose, but not on-line..he'd need to see it!)

(It IS plugged in of course............?

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif 9 years old, not a bad age for a tube sorry i think Roddy is right, but have it checked out first. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/grouphug.gif

the only way to be 100% sure would be to take it to some electrical repair store.

Thanks guys,

Since I posted I've thought of someone nearby who can revive it, or issue the death certificate. If it's gone it's gone. Its just the thought of buying a new one - if it was not necessary - that upset me.

I'm also a bit disturbed about being beatified by RobBo! ;) I'm not quite dead yet - even if the tele maybe!

Maybe it is God's punishment, for me sitting in front of Satan's instrument to much!

I know I should have been down the Pub!

Why St John, I do believe that I canonised you last night...see my "How Was Your Week" thread for details (I dare say that one of these young chaps could take you straight there with a hyperlink, or some damn thing but not I, ) so worry not for you are blessed ....

...you have checked that it really is plugged of course...)

Do you play games with the TV, on playstation? Only reason for missing it, IMHO. Nothing else on it except the cat!

There you go St John, no need for technicians...just ask the nearest tiger for advice!

Where ya been lurking puss-cat...where you in Blackpool too?!

Hi Tippucat,

I don't watch TV as such, but my games and films need it. It's a shame I don't have neighbours, all I can do later is music and the SexPistols can be Very Loud and annoying!

As indeed can some of the classical stuff!

Hello everyone! Sounds like it's been a mixed day of experiences for people. Some good, some bad. Mine was a bit of both but nice to be here chatting to people!

Never been to Blackpool, Rob. Maybe we should have our cyber meeting there everyone?

Hey puss cat, Blackpool ain't Angkor Wat y' know!

I'll take it to a technician - before I consider the (intense) theological and philosophical implications!

No, I detect a hint of mischief? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif In relation to cats and so on, Roddy. Looks like your original diagnosis stands.
