I ran the update tool for Tomb Raider Last Revalation but after the patch it only let me go up to a resolution of 1152x864. My screen's native resolution is 1440x900 and I was able to use this resolution with Tomb Raider 3 and Lost Artifact after running the universal patch. Why no 1440x900 for TR4?

Even with the lattest and last version of the 'Sold out' TR4 disk with built in patches, the maximum resolution is 1280 x 1024 32bit.

If you are trying to fill your screen, use the above max resolution, then you could try windowing it, and pull the window out to maximum size.

Although there is no windowed mode on TR4, it may be posible to window it using a small downloadable program called DXWnd, do a search on google for it.

I use it quite often to window TR Anniversary, It may work with TR4, though I have never tried it.

Chi, when I patched the game with the multi patcher on Tomb Raider Chronicles. I were allowed to use a 1440x900 resolution in TR4

Also, TR4 can be played on a window without that program. While choosing the settings, you can choose to play on a window instead of full screen

You must have a better patch then me then, to get this higher resolution and windowed, its been a while since I bought the 'sold out' version of TR4. :D

As I said in my last message, If you can window it, just select highest resolution, and pull the window up to the edges of your screen to fill it.

I think thats about the best you can do, unless others reading this can come up with better solutions.

I assume you have one of those big computer screens ? Widescreen format ?

I have 17 inch 3:4 , and my games looks good and work fine on the resolutions I mentioned.

I have a 24 inch CAD professional screen and it looks great with the largest size available in the original game, the last edition before the sold out one, i have both, and the previous one is better IMHO.

Maybe the Sold out version works differently, but AFAIK, TR4 most certainly does support windowed mode - you can either select this mode in the setup, or toggle between it and fullscreen mode in-game, using Alt+Enter. But it's not possible to drag the window to maximum size (the resize arrows simply do not appear).

I have two versions of this game, the original version released years ago. And the version Eidos release last year with the first six games. Both let me use my current screen resolution of 1920*1200, only no widescreen support which kinda sucks. But i can live with it... But if i remember correctly some versions of this game have a limited resolution, no idea how to remove that problem though:o:o

AFAIK, none of the classics (TR1-5) have widescreen support, in any version. And yes, that does suck. :(

I don't remember if 10 bit per color per pixel is an option in TR4 (it is in AOD), but using R10G10B10 formats limits your choice of resolutions (also fraps won't be able to capture video if you use this format). Use a 8 bit per color format instead, R8G8B8 is the name used for AOD. My main system is stuck doing backups now so I can't confirm this works in TR4. Usually the games just show a list of options based on the current color depth.

Most LCD monitors are only 6 bits per color per pixel, and even on a good CRT I can't tell the difference between R10G10B10 and R8G8B8 with TRAOD (since CRT's are analog there is no fixed number of bits per color).
