View Full Version : Problem installing TR1 (again I know!)

Cows N' Roses
23-06-09, 20:39
Hello :wve:

I'm trying to install TR1 since yesterday, following the TR Hub (for ATI cards) to the letter but it only works when the game cd is on. When I take it out it doesn't. There's a black screen for half a sec and then nothing, it's back to the desktop.

As far as I remember a few years ago when I first installed TR1 (also using the ATR Installer but on a different computer) it worked fine and without the cd inside.. At least I think the cd wasn't inside  Anyway, that's my problem, oh and I use the Sold Out version.. Right, I'll just post my diagnose and let you do what you do best :)

Note: I'm not very technical or anything but I think that maybe it has to do with nVidia? Apparently I don't have it but I used to in my old computer so.. maybe that's it?

Anyway thanks a lot for any help, I really appreciate it, I've been killing my eyes by reading threads and threads trying to find a solution...

TR1 reads data from the game disc (CD obviously), therefore you must have the CD inserted to play. Never was any other way.

Did you ever use any Virtual CD drive tools? Like Daemon tools? That could be the reason why?

Yeah I had Daemon tools at the time, do you think that was it?

If you were using them, then yes you wouldn't have needed the CD for TR1 in the drive ;)
