A picture I've always wondered about...

Hi everyone!

I've been a huge fan of Tomb Raider ever since I was a little kid. I own the first four games on the PS. Anyways there is something I've always wondered about since I was a little kid. There is a picture on the back of the case with both Lara Croft and Larson fighting a pack of wolves, yet that never takes place in the actual game. I've done searches on it in the past, but never came up with any answers.

So if anyone knows please tell me.

We can only guess that the screenshot was taken at an early stage of development, and the box produced while parts were still being altered removed.
Check the Magazine Scans Thread (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=112245), you'll see a few more images of events which never happened in TR1.
Lara fighting Larson in Vilcabamba, and a crocodile in the Lost Valley, for example.

I think I remember reading that Larson was originally meant to pop up and shoot Lara in the Peru levels, a bit like Pierre does in Greece. Maybe that's what this is meant to be a picture of?

Interesting. I admit I've never really looked at that Mag Scan thread, until Rivendell mentioned it, so much going on this forum to look at :o

Imagine having to deal with Larson so early on!

Thanks for letting me know. I remember seeing one picture of both Lara and Larson. It looks like Larson was shooting at a wolf so I always thought he was originally supposed to be a partner AI or maybe a second player, but I guess not. Too bad it wasn't some kind of secret you could unlock.

Hes a character from a PS game series (well there were 2 games) called Tobal No. 1 & 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobal_No._1) XP

I think that screenshot even shows the dual targetting before it was removed from the game.

O man as a kid, I'd obsess over them screenshots and I'd try to go back to the levels myself to see if Larson would pop up. Same with the crocodiles in Lost Valley :vlol: !!

Hey, those are pretty cool, it's interesting to see a much earlier version of the game, and to read about a time when TR was something completely new and fresh.

i remember that picture...and cuz i was little i was scared of him...then i played through it and...no larson...i was happy...and i never noticed that lol I do like the picture though:D

Removed? Lost valley, the FMV after you shoot him. Unless I'm missing something, of course, but during that Lara does kick Larson in the head.
