You're not supposed to resurrect threads more than 3 months old and that is over a year old :p

I opened up to the classics and I have watched Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood. Alice was no where near the book completely different.
Robin Hood I would say was very good it was very emotional and is my favorite Disney movie. Oh and Pirates is also my fav. lol I forgot about those guess I don't really consider them Disney. I think of the cartoons when I hear the word Disney.

does disney make anyone else cry? they just know how to place the music, scene and story so well to pull at your heart strings.

From little mermaid I always cry at:

"daddy i love him!"
"if this is the only way to get through to you then so be it!"
"daddy NO!"

"I love you daddy."

Most favorite Disney movies come from this Era in time:

"The Disney Renaissance (1989 - 1999) was an era when the Walt Disney Animation Studios returned to making successful animated films mostly based on fairy tales, recreating a public and critical interest in the Disney studio. These animated films include The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, and Tarzan."

The scene where all the people are locked up away and it's all rainy and dark. The song adds a lot to the mood it's so sad :( and the scene after that is where the mouse gives his last coin to donate to the church and then the sheriff comes and takes that last coin for taxes :(

It's The Princess and the Frog and it should come out later this year. There's HUGE expectations from the movie lovers for this one because it's suposed to be Disney's comeback to the traditional animation of the Beauty and the Beast days...

I particularly like the New Orleans setting!

A fairy tale centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans' French Quarter during the Jazz Age.

Although I'm more of a PIXAR person, Disney is the founder.

Actually, Goerge Lucas is technically the founder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Lucas#Film_career) of Pixar. Steve Jobs bought the Graphics Group (Pixars original name) from Lucas after they worked on Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan and Young Sherlock Holmes. Disney didn't buy out Pixar until very recently.

I think Lasseter will bring about some great changes in Disney (and he already has). It's one of the best things to happen to the company since Howard Ashman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Ashman).

They had 4th of July fireworks and that was cool, we also watched Fantasmic which was neat :D we got stuck on like almost all the rides except for a couple got stuck before we could get on.

Thunder Mountain we actually had to get off cause we got stuck right before the drop where the goat is and that was actually cool and interesting to walk along the track and through all the hidden areas :D I had loads of fun :jmp: and it was nice to hang out with my brother since I don't see him all that much.

All the Disney sequels suck. ALL of them no exceptions. They just ruin the magic with the sequels. What they did to The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Lion King, etc. omg all the classic movies, they spoiled everything with the sequels!

Probably the only sequel that "worked" was Aladdin's "Return of Jafar"

I haven't seen it, and I love love love love Ariel. I hated Little Mermaid 2 because IMO it spoiled the beauty of the story. Just seeing Ariel as a mom was a real turnoff for me. So should I get this movie? Or will it spoil it even more? (I hate all the classic movies' sequels)

I remember seeing that around the first time it came out. I don't really remember anything apart from them messing with Flounder's personality. In the original, he was sort of a wuss, whereas here, he was brave. I also remember this...

http://i49.************/2hwmd91.jpg

This, manatee-thing being really adorable to the extent where I wanted one as a pet. Benjamin. :D

I for one, would go see the movie. I mean you can't make a judgement before you actually do see it. I don't really remember anything about it, but I don't I can remember not really hating it.

As for Little Mermaid II, I liked it. Yes, it did ruin Ariel and the original, but I still liked it. :o

^ Awww

That's a cute character indeed! :D I think I'll check this movie out, it wouldn't hurt! After I watched the second one I said to myself: "ok Tony... you didn't just watch this... Ariel doesn't become a mother! The story ends when she kisses Eric in the boat and that's it... No mother, no daughter wanting to go to the sea, etc." So maybe I'll tell myself this time, after I watch the prequel: "ok Tony... the story doesn't start this way. Ariel is just a 16-year-old mermaid looking for adventure." :p

Shark_Blade

I think Ariel's Beginning was really good, much better than Little Mermaid 2.
And Cinderella 3 was great as well, better than the abysmal Cinderella 2. Funny, is the second sequeal all bad for Disney? :p

Anyway, I like the Tinker Bell films. I've got the first (self title) and the second films (& The Lost Treasure) on Blu Ray. I definitely recommend to see it in HD, very beautiful and a breathtaking work of loving art. :tmb:

Other Disney Blu Ray animated movies I have are Sleeping Beauty (one of the best Disney movie ever!) and Pinocchio. I also have the modern ones like Ratatouille and Pirates of Carribean series.

Yes, but I think all Disney sequels suck (not only the second ones). They see the classic was an amazing success and they wanna continue the story (or reboot it, or 'twist' it in the case of Cinderella  ) and they make it the most disappointing way possible. Like Cinderella. The movie was amazing, the sequel was stupid and pointless and then they do a 'twist in time' movie where the shoe doesn't fit Cinderella's foot; would the dream still come true? Twisted and weird

Second example that really makes me mad, The Lion King. The sequel involved Simba's daughter Kayla and Scar's sister was the villain. Out of ideas are we? And then, comes Lion King 1.5!!! With Timon and Pumbaa. Might as well have a Lion King 1.547

I'm not saying they're not enjoyable, they may be nice movies for some people and I do get the fact that it's a movie involving the same characters so it would be interesting to see, but I just WISH I could love a Disney sequel, I just never do! :(
Snow White and Up were out already for BD but I don't really like the films, so I didn't get them.:/

I never watched Up (I know I know...) but Snow White is amaaaaaazing and ESPECIALLY that DVD! It has so many amazing bonus features, it's a must for every Disney fan! I watched some special features documentaries from Disc 2 and it's really fascinating what a technical masterpiece this movie is. For its time, everyone thought Walt Disney was out of his mind for wanting to create a full-length animated feature but he proved them wrong. The movie was received with acclaim and huge success and award wins, and it was the movie which led to the production of "The Wizard Of Oz" (which itself led to the production of "Star Wars"). So it's a whole cycle of movie productions that happened just because of that first masterpiece, Snow White.

It also shows a lot of interesting facts about the history of Disney, there's a really great documentary that shows the achievements of Disney throughout every decade. Not only in the movie industry, but also the TV industry, the sports industry, the Broadway musicals, the theme parks, etc. Disney is simply an empire, and many things you meet in everyday life could have Disney behind it (like Miramax, Touchstone, ABC, etc.) And it's all because of that first movie, that amazing musical, Snow White.

Clearly the biggest animated feature of all-time and one of the most notable pictures in history.

I can't wait for another Tinker Bell film, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue. It'll be out this year! :jmp: I'll be looking forward for it's release and buy it in a heartbeat.:jmp:

I just found out that there will be 5 Tinker Bell movies in total, each of the first four films is set around one of the four seasons (Tinker Bell around Spring, Lost Treasure around Autumn, Great Fairy Rescue around Summer, and Winter Story around Winter), with the fifth film set around all four seasons.:D

* Tinker Bell (2008)
* Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure (Fall 2009)
* Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue (Summer 2010)
* Tinker Bell: A Winter Story (working title, 2011)
* Tinker Bell: Race Through the Seasons (working title, 2012)

Did anyone notice that the boy pixie called Terence in the Tinker Bell films looks a LOT like Peter Pan? I didn't realize it until someone pointed it out to me. The resemblance is almost uncanny!

I don't know what possessed me but yesterday I suddenly got the urge to buy Snow White and Up on BD.

I went to this one particular shop in town where they have special prices for it's BDs - no other place has it's low price. Normal price for both BD are RM159.90, roughly USD 47, but they sell RM119.00@USD 35. I grabbed both copies and went to the cashier girl counter. We had a bit of a pleasant conversation, I might've flirt a little bit and then she gave me discounts for both BDs! Wowza, now it's RM 89.90 (USD 26) for each BD, I couldn't believe it!

So I literally saved = RM 141.80 (USD 41.70).

Went back and pop in Snow White in my bulky PS3 Ceramic White. I swear I saw the movie a few times some years ago (even on Disney Channel on several occasions) but it's something else when you watch it in HD. I was so absorbed and engrossed with the story and the characters like never before. Maybe it's because of the beautiful clarity of the film that made me notice some of the fine details that are not really apparent in previous SD materials before.

I was moved when the hunter was trying to stab Snow White but later broke down in tearful shame - because her gentle kind nature made him unable to take her life. The scene where she was in the "evil" woods was great as well, everything was so crazy and wild, and Snow White was screaming and running around in fear like hysteria. I took pity on her when she finally fell down to the ground and started sobbing.
No I wasn't crying but I felt like an emotional wreck through this film lmfao.

This BD release made me change my mind. The movie is actually pretty good and I actually like Snow White now because of her gentle nature qualities. I don't know why I was completly oblivious before and unaware of that in the past. Glad I made this purchase.

But still, Aurora is my most favorite of them all. Always will be. :p

I've got chills when I browsed through Snow White's special features - one of them is the Coming Soon to BD 2010 - Beauty & The Beast trailer. :yik: I've got goosebumps and all my hairs stood up when I saw the video, I can't wait for the release. :jmp:

Oh, and also in the special features there are several Silly Symphony videos littered in Hyperion Studio menu. Mickey in Steamboat Willie, in HD = Win. ;)

As for Up, I'll watch it later. *sigh* When will Little Mermaid be released? :o

Btw, I watched The Fox and the Hound, Aladdin 1 and 3 on TV in Arabic (on some silly channel called MBC3)...omg ! terrible ! they're English !
they're better left in English !

I believe every child outside the US and UK grew up with their respective country's dubbed versions. To us it's far from shocking.

Althouh when I grew older I soon realized how stupid it was that our versions (portuguese) were all dubbed in brazilian portuguese. :( Fortunately we now have our own voice actors, although now I prefer the english versions (except on Pixar movies, because the dubbing is awesome in those :D).

It's just, comparing Disney World to Universal Studios, there's this huge difference. Whilst Universal is all about the rides and the experience and the big budget and being really cutting edge, Disney is all about the cheesy, family-fun, tried and tested formula. The rides with the anamatronic rabbits, for example, were starting to look really old, and the use of mannequins on other rides looked pretty outdated too. And whilst that's not neccessarily a bad thing, I can say that the Magic Kingdom wasn't my favourite park out of the ones we visited.

It still blew my expectations away however, I sound really negative about it, I'm not, really.

I always bought the English version. When I went to the store, I always found an Arabic version of the movie as well, but I never was interested and I grew up watching Disney movies in their original language. :)
We also have Timon and Pumba dubbed into Arabic here, but I never found it funny and never watched a whole episode. :)

Even when it comes to books. A lot of people here read Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code in Arabic, but I bought and read the English ones. Same with Harry Potter. I found the Arabic versions in stores, but I bought the English ones.

I dunno ! :p I just love English too much.
oh and I also watch foreign movies and series in their original languages. Watched a few Japanese series and Animes, some Spanish and Indian movies and French ones...all in their original languages but with English subtitles.

It's like comparing apples and oranges.... Disney world is suposed to be, well, Disney world. It's not suposed to be just another theme park, I think it's far more special than that. It's a chance for the kids to get in contact with a physical place as magical as the movies, and for the grown ups to get in touch with their inner child. The day they try to change Disneyworld to make it more "attractive" to the regular theme park crowd, will be a sad day.

Although I should add that at least on Disneyland Paris (I went there, not to the US parks) there are some pretty extreme rides, certainly not for kids.

Yeah, I think thats how I got my opinion. I'd been promised to go to Disneyland when I was old enough to appreciate it since I was four, and then my sister was born, so it got put off. I had these tapes that I watched loads when I was a kid, it was sing-a-longs to old disney songs and it had videos of rides and stuff, and it just looked so amazing to me as a kid. Then the 'well I'm never going to get to go' attitude kicked in at about age eleven, and I sort of forgot about it.

So when we finally got to go, I went with the expectation of just another theme park, so whilst I was being blown away by everything I saw as a child on my tv, there was a small part of me that thought, 'those are the same anamatronics I saw when I was five! but.. anamatronics'

Nevertheless, the fireworks display at the castle was mindblowing, and I still loved the whole experience.

Exactly what my aunts said (they've been there a few times already). They tell me about the rides saying some of them are really extreme, the one off the top of my head is "indiana jones upside down" or something like that, where the roller coaster actually goes backwards, not forward. :cln::p

I recently bought the Cinderella special edition 2005 DVD release off eBay. I forgot just how amazing this movie actually is, I used to worship it as a child! The music is just breathtaking especially "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" and "So This Is Love". I grew up listening to these songs in French though, so it's nice to hear them in English now they're quite nice! :D I normally prefer the English versions of the songs, but in the case of Cinderella, I prefer them in French.

TBH, I find it very annoying that, that's the only thing people say about Disney nowadays. Infact I haven't seen anything about High School Musical at all, since the last one which was two years ago. :/ As for Hannah Montana, I personally haven't heard much from that either. It's actually ending pretty soon. :(

As for Rapunzel (I don't care if it's called Tangled now), I'm not that excited for it, TBH. That's not to say I won't be watching it, I will, but it doesn't excite me.

Yes, Nate I agree with you but I guess their point is that Disney should focus on the animated movies (2-D) rather than the 3d animated ones, the live action ones that feature the Disney channel stars and other new young trends, etc.

He kept the company in a steady state for a long time, and I really enjoy his comments on featurettes and documentaries about the movies.

Same. :/

When I heard he died I was seriously shocked for a week, especially because died from the same cause as his uncle.

Also a little side fact, I share Walter Disney's middle name.:D

@Tony & Dan: I think it's from Even Stevens.:p

I am really shocked, cause he seemed just so happy and healthy the idea never even crossed my mind! :(
