Most definitely , I just hope it won't follow the game-movie formula that many franchises such as X-men have been following (short uninspired games released only to increase the movie's success).

tie in... hmm, im still curious as to whether its all legit or not (and im beginning to believe it is)
*has a flashback*
I remember once it was said that there is a chance the ninth game would tie in with the movie AGES ago when there was info about Underworld coming out.

She looks like Rhona Mitra in Doomsday. I wonder if Rhona will play Lara in the next film then...

Judging by this if it's real which might be because Lawyers are involved then is it safe to if the movie and game tie in Lara will be played by somebody around 25ish?
But what's also interesting is the fact we may well see a movie by 2011 if this is due out next year :D

Nice find, and freaky at the same time! :D
Wow! That Rhona pic really does remind me of that new concept art.
Strange :S
I wonder if they are in talks to have her do the film that ties in with the movie. (If they end up going through with that.)

I was thinking about this, if it is legitimate what other reason would they create an origins story? Definitely related in some way.
I hope it's not a movie tie in. The game and the movies should be two completely different things.

I agree :tmb:! I personally couldn't care less about a new movie .
I think there is a great chance the movie and the game will share the same new new biography at least, if not even the exact same story.
That was the first thing that came to my mind.Sadly.

I would rather have no 3rd movie if it ties in with the game :(

Smaller breast, younger, bow and arrow and skinnier, she bears the resemblence of another actress I know:

Sounds like it. I'm pretty late in all this, so it's the first time I've seen the concept art - apparently Crystal Dynamics' lawyers have asked some websites to take it down, so that lends it a modicum of truth. Either way, I'm pretty sure we'll get a movie tie-in game, which I was surprised didn't happen the first time around. It would be interesting if this were the case, as it would be a videogame based on a movie based on a videogame. I do hope it doesn't turn out like so many other countless movie tie-in games that are blatantly rushed, pointless and serve only to milk extra dollars from moviegoers.

Young Lara has smaller breasts, not no breasts.

I'm a bit late noticing this news (and I think it is true) so sorry for the late response:
The story - Lara's boat crashes, she ends up on an "uninhabited" island which turns out to be infested with zombie-like creatures - sounds a bit Resident Evil to me. I love both RE and TR but in different ways because they are completely different. Where does the actual tomb raiding come in? She ends up some mysterious, imaginary island, which no one has a clue about, so I assume she discovers something equally mysterious and ancient, otherwise it’s going to be some survival horror (again isn't necessarily a bad thing but it’s NOT TR)!
But the thing that really annoys me is that it is another damn reboot! AOD was a reboot – to give Lara a fresh start after Egypt and move onto the then next gen consoles. It had that feel of TR but wasn’t all quite there but thankfully they didn’t change her past. Eidos claimed AOD was a failure so another reboot came in the form of Legend, which altered her past to fit in her parents as her motivation, casting aside past games and creating some confusion. Now TR9 is going to be Lara’s first adventure – an unlucky incident that forces her to toughen up. Sorry, but wasn’t that the point of the plane crash in the classics? And the point of Amelia’s death in the last three? So, basically, they’re changing everything again therefore creating even more confusion of who Lara is – there are too many interpretations of this character! And if this adventure toughens her up why is she so emotional in the past three games or are they going to cast these away as well? Stop rebooting and dreaming up all these contradicting stories, and make the bloody game play good – that is why we play the games after all.
I hope the film doesn’t tie in with the game - it will though they won't make two origins. I can picture it now; one of those clichéd (and frankly ****py) scenarios where a group of survivors find themselves on this island and Lara’s strength and determination is their only hope of survival. She watches many of them get slaughtered, falls in love with one who she’s only known for 3 seconds, he dies, boohoo, et voila tough ***** Lara.
Ok, I’m jumping the gun and reading way too much into this. And I really hope I am wrong. Really! But TR only exists today so the producers can get rich. They don’t care about the franchise anymore, only the amount of money they can squeeze out of it.
EDIT: I didn't mean AOD - I dunno why I said it  I meant the films were sort of reboots of the games because they were first to introduce Lara's father as her mentor. In the film it says he is killed by Powell. In the classics, he didn't die he disowned her. In the later games, Natla killed him. These are just a few of many changes and contradictions - they shouldn't do it again. For the game just focus on gameplay and get that right and for the film focus on making an interesting story and character development - I just don't understand why they think the have to keep changing everything to do that???

AoD wasn't a reboot. It followed the continuity of the first 5.

Sorry. No, it wasn't a reboot but Core did say they wanted to go in a new direction if given the chance.

With Keira we're not talking about smaller breast but size minus!
I was hoping there would be a tie-in with the game but I don't like the storyline of lara being ship wrecked on a japanese island...maybe the movie will take on a different part of the game.

I think it'll most likely be Lara on an expedition with her university class in the game to kind of tie in the original bio's keeping a crash and an island to survive...

Perhaps I was overreacting just a teeny weeny bit :o I hope so too but then look at the last two. I have very low expectations for this film and even the game. I actually wasn't bothered if they made another after playing Underworld (and usually I get really excited about upcoming TR games :()

I was kind of hoping the crash would be a plane crash in the Himilayas but we don't really have all the info on the game so its kind of hard to tell whats going on with the new concept art.... its all kind of vague and to be honest the movie does not have to be anything like the games.
