Hey All
Ive just recently installed TR's 2-9 back on my new PC. Ive been a fan since the beginning, and although ive got all the games, only those have worked on XP. Sadly my dad passed away nearly two weeks ago. And as I have fond memories of him and i playing TR1 on the PS, i wanted to play it on the PC.
I would play and he would help me out with the puzzles when i got stuck. I have tried in vein for ages to get TR1 to work on my PC, but it just never ran. OK it did run, but there was no music and no atmosphere, which is a big part of why i love the TR games.
Up until now i had given up hope of playing it again. That is until yesterday. I finally decided to try using Glidos to see if it would work, and it did. Even the music and atmosphere work fine now, thanks to the person who went to the trouble of putting the audio tracks for download in mp3 format.
I even downloaded some extra textures (JC ones i think they are called), and the game runs and looks great now. I dont know who did that with the music, but even the trigger points work on the PC now. :D I had given up hope in playing TR1 on the PC, but i just had to try it one more time for my dad.
TR1 is, and always will be my fav game, with TR2 and 3 close behind. Then i like the Last Revelation, Chronicles and AOD. The others afterwards are OK, but not a patch on the earlier ones i enjoy more. Yes Anniversary did an OK job, but it just didnt have that something special that TR1 had you know?.
Im just happy to be able to play the game that i have such fond memories of me and my dad playing. He loved playing TR as well, and i know he played them all up until Underworld. His hands got so bad with Arthritis that he couldnt use the keyboard/controller no more.
I just want to say a big Thank You to the ones who make all of this possible. The makers of Glidos and the other stuff i had to download to make it work. I even went and paid for Glidos i was so grateful for it.
I hope you guys didnt mind me posting all of this. Im off now to raid some tombs with my memories of my father close by.
