I know that since most of you guys are (All actually) are TR fans, most of you have a thing for ancient cultures, or maybe even more modern ones. Just wondering, if you could pick a certian time that you would want to live your life, when would it be?

Personally, I am a huge Egypt person. I study the history of the nation, and it is my favorite time, and love that women had so much freedom back then, so that is a plus. All of the little beliefs and rituals are facinating aswell.

Also, even though it was a horrible time, the medival period interests me. Just the thought of actually having to survive, rather than having food on every corner, or a gun. A gun takes no talent to fire, but a sword would be an amazing thing to fight with. You would have to know what you were doing to live back then.

Byzantine time was cool also, but too many restrictions and not enough freedom for women. (or men for that matter)

I may be crazy, but today's society is so boring. Why live out lives in televisions and games when people used to live them in reality.

Or am I just insane??? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-2.gif

I am a fan of the Romans personally, but I respect most of the ancient cultures.

I would like to lived in a number of periods and cultures. Egypt is a given, to be at the court of Tutankhamun, or even Akhenaten and the advent of the Aten. The medieval period is interesting too. Nepal/India during the time of the Prince Siddhattha. China for sure, to be at court during the reign of Pu Yi. At the Russian court during the reign of Czar Nicholas II and the presence of Rasputin. Also the French court close to Queen Catherine de Medici (and dealings with Michel de Nostradame). But I think more than anything, to have served Elizabeth I at court during her long reign. Um, obviously all royal. :D

Ancient Greece, during Alexander's years.

Ancient Rome, because I find that period intriguing.

Ancient Egypt, because so many things (arts, sciences) flourished there.

The Renaissance in Italy.

Hmm....not sure which time period I'd like to
live in.... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-3.gif
"Ancient Sweden" maybe?? Ehh no I don't think so....from what I've understood the Vikings where extremely cruel..., lots of blood, rapes and stuff...., and also it was sooo cold back then!!
So back then your common destiny would probably have been... either freeze to death, starve to death or get slaughtered or something equally terrible!
Yikes.....this modern age seems rather good to me!! ;)

I'm all into Egypt and the Medeival times as well. The greek stuff kind of bored me to death, but the Romans were cool too though. Especially how the Spartan women would fight too. In my last World History class in college I would always get all the Egyptian questions right and I'd have such a hard time with all the Greek stuff. I think it's pretty boring. Also, the women weren't allowed to go out and do anything, and that made me sick. Any way, I also love the 1950's. haha. Sounds pretty diverse from everything else, but the 50's was just such a cool time period I think. But like i said before, Egypt tops all. For the longest time I have wanted to be an Archeologist, but not nay more. While i think that would be a very good career, I'm more into 3D graphics now. I want to make video games haha.

My fav periods are all the ancient ones, like Egypt, ancient Macedonia and Greece, the Romans were cool too. The ancient Celts have a really interesting history also, same with medievel times.
The really old cultures are what i really find fascinating, the concepts of the Gods and magic and their way of living is all so amazing.
Oh ancient China is pretty cool too, i enjoy learning about that.

I find the whole 16-1700's period rather dull, like the whole Renaissance period.

Ancient and medieval history fascinates me, and I'd love to go back to witness it for myself. The scope for discovery, invention, and adventure was unrivalled back then. Have always been fascinated with ancient cultures, modern history I didn't find so interesting! :D

The Aztecs were unique and interesting. They sacrificed townsfolk to a specific god I believe. They also had hundreds of gods and goddesses.

Definitely one from this shortlist:

Egypt in the Reign of Rameses I

Greece in Athens around Aristotle's time.

The (supposed) time of Christ. (Like to go to Jerusalem)

Anytime during the Roman Empire (except under Caligula, Nero, Commodus, Elagabalus. Carinus) right up until Constantine.

Norman Conquest (as a Norman)!

Crusades

Mongol hordes sweep Russia/China/India/Persia.

The Hundred Years War

The Scottish Reformation (big supporter of Mary, Queen of Scots).

Culloden (try to win it). Cause it's last battle fought on British (Scottish!) soil.

Definitely one from them.

I seriously doubt that we're cousins. I've got enough to be getting on with. From stupid younger ones who constantly pester you, to show-off older ones who have Honours degrees and are going off to Rio in February. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-1.gif

All of ancient history fascinates me, but I don't think I would like to live there permanently. The only way to survive was if you were rich. And then you were likely to get your head chopped off if you were on the wrong side. Would like to be Carmen San Diego and travel back to all those times and return home when things got bad.
In recent times I think the best ones were the late 60's early 70's I was in my late teens early twenties and they were a really fun time. Not too much crime, the music was great. Plenty of work you could pick and choose your jobs. If you didn't like a job you went somewhere else. People were friendlier and not so remote and not so frightened to get involved. (You did not get sued so easily). You didn't have to lock yourself in at night and we had no home invasions. Women were liberated, but men still behaved like gentlemen. People were not as rude as they can be nowadays. The world was a really nice place (except for Vietman that was they only real downfall in that period). Women could go out on their own without really being worried about being attacked. It was a really great time. But I guess I am showing my age. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif
