I just got a new monitor that has a native 1080p resolution and can hook up to my 360 with HDMI cables. I want to test it out to see if it actually runs 1080p like it's supposed to. Are there any 360 games that actually run at 1080p? (I have several that say it on the back, but I don't know if they just upscale from 720p).

If the game doesn't support 1080p, which it rarely does, the game would say it's running at 1080p but since it's resolution is 720p or 1080i, you would be forcing it to run at 1080p, therefore upscaling it from 720p or 1080i, and in the end you're just loosing quality. There's a list of games that support 1080p here (http://www.makeyougohmm.com/xbox360-1080p-games/), it's dated Nov 08.

You wouldn't be losing as much quality as you think if you were to upscale your games thru 1080p. The real main difference is if you were to try upscaling with a HDTV that uses 1080p for native, you have the possibility of the display trying to add its own process which could blur the image or attempt to "fill in the gaps" between each pixel with the chance things may look a tad uneven.

I've seen bad upscaling with resolutions low as 256. Just keep the hardware resolution set to what your display's native is and you should be fine.

If you're only looking to test out the monitor's capability to run 1080p, then your best bet is to download an HD video (either 1080p or 720p, it won't matter in the end) and watch it on the console. Go to screen mode in the settings and keep selecting it until it says native. If you're watching a 720p video, it will take up half the screen. If you're watching a 1080p video, nothing will change. If you get either of these results, the monitor is running in 1080p.

Thanks :D The video thing is a really clever idea. I tried a couple of videos and now I'm trying out some different games. So far so good :D
