From Gamecentral

We've got some bad news we're afraid: GameCentral is set to close its doors from January of next year.

Alas, the whole of Teletext editorial is disappearing from screens on analogue and digital TV, as well as online. See p139 for more info.

However, we're not dead yet and GameCentral will continue with service as normal right up until they nail the coffin shut in the new year.

so if anyone here is a regular viewer of GC then e-mail them at the following address to share your thoughts at the news of GC's impending closure
gamecentral@teletext.co.uk

I for one will be sad to see it go its one of the few game related pages on teletext hopefully the bigwigs at GC will be able to keep GC alive somehow if that isn't possible i will miss everything about GC the news, the game reviews, the occasional game related joke (that pyramid head walks into a bar joke is one i'll never forget)

I used to read that all the time, sorry to hear it is closing down. I thought it was online now.

Was always a good source of unbiased reviews. The letters page was often pretty funny as well.

Other people here read GameCentral?! :yik:

GC is my favourite games service as well. I've always been able to trust their reviews. :(

I've been viewing GC since shortly before the Manhunt 2 fiasco

Teletext to switch off in January

The main reason for GC closing is because of the current economic climate apparently it is too expensive to keep a bunch of words on screen, since when did words become so expensive. The owner of teletext whoever that is has decided that it is too expensive to keep teletext on channel 4 and ITV.

I can't even get Teletext at all. My Freeview is so crappy that it won't receive ITV or Channel 4. :(
Anyway, it's sad to see GC gone. I always looked on there for the latest news and reviews. Also, the Inbox sometimes had some funny messages. Some of these didn't have anything to do with games. :p

Saw this on GC earlier

We've set up a petition to try and save GC from the big switch-off and make potential suitors aware of its popularity.

If anyone wants to help save GC put your name down at www.petitiononline.com/saveGC/ if nothing else it shows you care

Cubes is the name of the guy that posted it that is also his psn id if you want to look him up

im read it frequently as well, mainly the whats coming out this week and the inbox bits, although i do disagree with most of their jrpg reviews because im biased towards them, i agree with nearly all their other reviews
