What the? Halo going anime? Im not a fan myself, but i mean.... What the funk?
Why is it such a suprise? There have already been graphic novels, actual novels etc.
Personally, i am looking forward to this a lot (being an anime fan)

There are like 101348213084120348 Halo's in development. Do we really need another? It's getting old enough as it is.

Then don't play any of them, and this an a animated series for Halo not a game. There are still fans out there who like Halo (loads of fans including me), what I find funny is people sit here and get mad when someone says "TR needs to die already, it's getting old" but then the next minute they complain that another series needs to die. Don't like it don't play, let the ones who enjoy it do so without comments like that. Btw I am not trying to sound mean, I am just saying just because you don't like the game doesn't mean others won't like to see more projects of the series.:)

Shush Joe, I know I sounded harsh so I edited my post to explain what I said wasn't ment to be that way.:p

There are two... And it's because Halo is good.
God not another Halo :vlol:
I saw that comic thing on some video streamed through Xbox Live. All very lovely for the fans I guess, but completely uninteresting to me.
Halo has become such a fan game. it's completely inaccessible to people who haven't played the previous titles. A friend and I watched 2 videos on Xbox Live about ODST and Reach the other day, both videos had some guy blithering on about the Halo timeline and how each new title fitted in. There were so many references to the Halo universe that I had not one idea what the hell he was talking about. How does anyone new to the series stand a chance of knowing what the hell was going on? Both my friend and I got the sense that if you didn't have any knowledge of the previous games' plots then the new games stories would mean nothing. FPSs are monotonous enough, let alone playing one that, to all intents and purposes, caters only for its fans and makes no sense to anyone else.
I wonder why people don't read the article before posting
I'm looking forward to that, it looks good!

What's to read? It's a series of anime stories about Halo, people don't need to know more than that do they (unless they're genuinely interested)?

Whilst i see your point in the sense that a storyline can be difficult to swallow, this is sort of the same with any series. It's as simple as finding out that Lara Croft is a rich british woman though- a quick bit of research, or even the recap moments in both halo 2 and 3 (and undoubtably odst) normally explain the story in a nutshell.
Spoiler alert!
For example, even the box for halo 3 sums up the main events of its predecessors.
But if you really just want to know in a nutshell, the master chief is the last of a human created series of supersoldiers, which were wiped out along with most of the human race by a religious bent alien collective called the covenant.
The first halo sees you escape into distant space, only to accidentally stumble on to one of seven "halos" -an ancient creation, which is designed to stop a parastic alien species called the flood, which the covenant unwittingly unleash during the game. The catch is, the only way to stop the flood is to starve them to death- therefore the halos are actually weapons, designed to kill all sentient life in the galaxy.
Unfortunately for humans, the covenant's religion teaches that in activating the rings, they are actually going on some "great journey".
So basically, the aim of the games is to stop the covenant from activating the rings, whilst fighting the flood and protecting earth from their enemy.
I'm sure i made that a lot more complicated than need be, but it really is a brilliant storyline, which is worth researching. A lot of people dismiss Halo because of both its popularity, and annoyingly advertised online mode, but underneath, it really is a deep and immersive experience, with a great campaign which is worth investing in.

No but people in the thread keep assuming that it's a new game. When really it's an anime series.

I see what you mean now. I have to admit the thread's title is a tad misleading.

Did my explanation help at all?:o

Kind of. But it seems that FPSs are more story driven because of the monotonous nature of their gameplay, and seeing as the story in Halo has become somewhat inaccessible to non-fans I only see that as being detrimental to the series. Recaps certainly help, but they always skim across the surface and miss out a ton of details.

Well to be fair the main story arch has sort of ended now. Halo ODST is being advertised as an "expansion" to halo 3 so i guess the story is somewhat implied. Everything coming out now will either explain the prior events (Halo: Reach) or be something new.
Although regardless of whether you think the gameplay is monotonous, i would still give halo a try. (At least the first one-purely brilliant.)

Anyway, i agree, if you don't like a series or think it's getting old, you don't have to play it.

I never said you have to.
What I am saying is I'm sure of you heard someone say "Another TR? It's getting old, it should just die". You would would probably be annoyed because no on is forcing them to play it. Just like no is forcing you to play this game. Just because it's old for you don't mean it's old for others was what I was trying to say.:)
