View Full Version : Kid Drinks Petrol to be like Transformers

Unbelievable.

A 14-year-old boy in China has been drinking petrol to be like his Transformers movie heroes Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, reports say.

"Since the boy watched the film, he started drinking gasoline to become a valiant fighter," the West China Metropolis newspaper reported, citing his father.

Just how far can one's imagination take control? I wonder what would've happened if the parents didn't find out :/

A 14 year old?

A 4 year old, I could somewhat understand but seriously, are some people's grip on reality this thin?

(And tomorrow it'll be announced that Transformers 2 has been withdrawn from cinemas.)

He drank it for 5 yrs: Link (http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2009-07/23/content_8462765.htm)

@Jackie: I don't think he was special (I know what you meant), maybe terribly naive

Xiao Fang, from Xingwen in eastern China, reportedly drank the petrol in secret, sipping it as he ate food in the belief that it could help him emulate the powers of robotic superheroes such as the Transformers.

How do we know this is true? It's from China so it could be Communist propaganda. You know, "look what those people in the west do to our kids..."

Hopefully he hasn't done permanent damage to his internal organs. *weeps for the liver*

There must have been something wrong with his mind to begin with if he really thought drinking petrol could help him become like some fictional characters.

The article says he has mental disorders, but is that because of his gasoline addiction or was he already like it? I've heard of lighter fuel inhalation (which he does), but drinking petrol? Geez, that's permanent damage he has to live with. I'm actually surprised he hasn't died from the stuff.

Take the population of the USA (a crazy country) and multiply it by 4.3. You get... China! With 1.3 billion people living in one country crazy stuff must happen sooner or earlier and especially more often than elsewhere... :mis:

You don't want to know. It's like taking a lightweight british sports car, putting a giant ford big-block 427 engine and turning it into the fastest car in the world of it's time.
Oh wait, they did that.

Maybe it's just those weird stories you hear about the US every day. Like the woman sueing McDonalds because her coffee was too hot. Or the woman sueing Nintendo because she didn't like Jynx. Maybe it's also the fact that Americans voted George W. Bush for president. Twice.
But all in all I didn't want to offend anybody. My post was about Germany at first, but I didn't think it would be a good scale so I wrote about the USA instead. Stereotypes are bad and Germany has its own share. Hitler, anyone? But yeah, we got better. :pi:

Good god! I can't believe this! There must have been something a little "off" about him to start doing that...

Maybe it's just those weird stories you hear about the US every day. Like the woman sueing McDonalds because her coffee was too hot.

While that woman shouldn't have been putting a paper coffee cup between her legs, the McDonald's coffee shouldn't have been so hot (180 F/82 C, if Wiki is to be believed) as to cause 3rd degree burns.

People saying, poor kid, I hope he is okay.

No. He is not okay. He has brain damage, and severe organ damage.
Seeing that coal and carbon fuels in large amounts are carcenogenic, he has a high risk of developing cancer.

He is not okay.

He must have been seriously out of touch with reality to drink petrol.
:( :( :(

What a depressing story.
