baaa. :D

nonono, i'm kidding. for work i have to do a lot of searching for fonts. for example, let's say i need to search for the font "Aachen". i type in Aachen font and google always returns false hits that include the page's code. so it could be a page that mentions the city of Aachen and contains a code element of <font face="tahoma"> or whatever.

bing, however, gives me pages and pages of relevant results making it easy to shop for what i need so, in my opinion, bing is far superior. google's had this issue for years and have made little progress, if any, on fixing the problem. the new bing (search tech is different than live or yahoo) circumvents all those obstacles i used to have. it's proven invaluable for me.

Well, given the fact that "Google" turned into a verb the everyone uses (to my disdain) I'd say it's pretty deeply ingrained into their brains that Google = Search. Hate to say it, but it's going to probably take Bing being the default search provider in browser installs to get anyone to try it. Sheep eat what they're given, right? :whi:

Judging by the greater than 90% Google usage in this poll, I don't see why you say anyone thinks it's not cool to use Google anymore because of it being successful. And the few that have said they use something besides Google (besides Drone) have pointed out that the competition gets more relevant results.

Drone's comment is representative of a bunch of people I hear (I didn't mean on this thread) saying similar things about Google, you know, there's always that group that likes to criticize a sucessful corporation just for what it is.

That makes sense. A huge corporation that has its tentacles spread out seemingly everywhere is easy to fear. And we all know that fear leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering.

You mean like Google Desktop (http://desktop.google.com/)? (Actually, I'm not sure if this can do both...)

Speaking of Opera, you can configure whatever search you want right from the address bar itself. If I want to search for ducks on Google, I type "g duck" in the address bar, or if I only want to see images of ducks, I type "i duck. For the Wikipedia article, I can do "w duck", for buying a duck on Amazon there's "z duck" et cetera et cetera. It's awesome.

yeah, the funny thing is sometimes I cannot seem to find my files on my own hard drive! Yet I'm talking about searching the web. Some people talking about Web 3 but even Web 2 doesn't exist. But seriously Internet should have been changed :whi:

I use win7 at home and win vista at work. That search feature is simple yes, but indexing and caching takes too much time and resources, I hated that. I'm happy I can totally turn windows search 4 option off in Windows 7. I've replaced it with my own search engine written via api functions. Seems to work fine and without bugs.

I switched to Bing because it seems to work fine, it has nice pretty photos on the main page, and I hate Google for recording and distributing people's internet activity.

and I also like Bing's pic search engine. It shows a bunch of pictures and all of them on a single page, I don't need to always press "next" button  really nice feature.

I still main with google, but ever since bling came out I've been hoping either the site updates or someone comes up with a nifty add-on to firefox for the pic search.

Google. Mostly just because I have the google toolbar (to get to my Gmail easier), and it has a search bar on it. :P

I voted for Google earlier! xD

Google is the best but some people disagree with me and say that Ask Jeeves is better! That's only because Ask uses that typical British stereotype with the Butler image! :vlol: xD

Mostly Google. I do use Bing sometimes, but that's mainly because it features very pretty pictures, which appeal to the armchair tourist in me. :D As a search engine, it doesn't really compare to Google.
